A coalition of about two dozen Brookhaven civic leaders held a rally Saturday morning in opposition to a Shinnecock casino anywhere in town.

How can 24 differant so called civic leaders speak for everyone? I did not get asked by my civic leader or civic assocation.
The people of Suffolk should be able to make an informed decision when a site or sites are chosen and the plan is proposed and not this early in the process.
All these so called leaders are doing is making asses of themselves.

Absolutely agree with you on this. They are putting the cart before the horse. Why not wait until a site is actually chosen and a plan is presented before protesting? As usual, the civics down here only manage to make us look foolish. These so called civics need to understand that they do NOT speak for the community, as not everyone is a member of their organizations.

Totally agree, these people make everyone in this area look foolish. I for one, am sick of their half ass approaches to topics in this area. What, if anything have they actually accomplished? I am for the casino. We need commercial $$ flowing into this area.

Why fight something that has not even been fully presented yet? As usual, there were a limited amount of protesters there - about 25 to 30 people - and again, have those civics looked into the larger picture? Jobs, revenue, you know, all those little things that help bolster an economy? What abot all the revenue that could be generated for local businesses?
I would like to know exactly why ABCO decided to protest this. I've rarely seen a civic leader that did not have some type of financial interest they were trying to protect.
ABCO should have had a large meeting for public consensus prior to mounting their protest. All active civic leaders participating in this dog and pony show have done a disservice to their constituents by forging ahead with this thing.
