The Newsday article was great, I like the fact that they included comments from people who lost money in the pool. Obviously this will not just go away as those "involved" may have hoped.

Could the people who are owed the pool money try to collect the money from the owner at Grumpy Jacks? I gather there were two owners (Mikes), which is the one responsible for taking the money??
Go to Grumnpy's, run up a bill in the amount you are owed, tip you server, and leave. Make sure you have your receipts. That is what I am going to do if this does not get settled soon. I hope you are there that night because I intend to by drinks for all.

I think grumpy and paprocky have alot of explianing to do. But who is going to get the truth? They both blame each other well that narrows it down to two then.

Grumpy Jacks was awesome-nicer atmosphere inside restaurant area than Mikes.-same old Jack at the Bar---who owns it...Same food as Mikes with a few additions I believe...

As far as suing anyone over this money, Newsday highlighted a critical legal point. A bar pool where the bar takes a cut of the gambling action is clearly illegal. But, a bar pool where the bar does not take a cut is not clearly legal. Personally, I'm surprised that the large winners weren't offered by the three Mike's Place owners a monthly payment, possibly based on the place's profit, to settle the matter. At the very least a discounted tab for the winners.

I heard Paprocky turned himself in for filing a false report of robbery. He is in a world of shi* now!

If that is true, does this affect the other partners? A false report means that he stole the money? Was he in it alone or not. I wonder what made him confess, maybe the noose was becoming too tight.

I do not think he (Jack) is the owner who claims he was robbed/stabbed but I am not sure. In any case he was a co-owner where his loyal customers were robbed because they trusted Mike's Place and they, all three owners are all responsible.

there is one bartender at grumpys named kevin O. he is a big red headed ugly bastard who likes to harass and bother girls half his age. Don't let your girl or daughter into this place if this creep is working

Well to be fair. If the big ugly red headed bastard is tending bar and girls are there, its only logical that he'd be cordial to them. Now if you were there with your girl and she was paying more attention to him than you that's your problem Don't hate on the man cause your game isn't up to par.

I heard it was Paprocky who had the money when the alleged robbery went down. Many different stories are going around. Most of the people, myself included, don't know what actually happened.

I also heard that Jack was able to open a new place because the original owner Mike, is backing him financially.

My daughter knows Jack and she thinks he's a victim instead of a perp.

Just so you know, the head chef from Mike's Place does not work at Grumpy Jack's. Most of the staff from Mike's Place went to Grumpy Jack's but others went on the better things.

Yeah, "anonymous" or should I say "head chef" I am sure you went on to better things. But why the attitude, "just so you know".
