I've had the same problem with the US Post Office. I overnighted a piece of paper to NJ for about $13 that took 5 days to get there. I got my $13 back. They couldn't have cared less.

Sad to say, but someone at UPS probably knew what the contents were and stole the package. Check ebay for some auctions soon for numbers.

I am sorry this has happened to such a worthy cause. I agree that UPS should make amends by donating the estimated amount that the items would have brought to the fundraiser. UPS is a multi-million dollar company and its CEO should take the money from his own pocket to give to replace the loss.

Maybe people should learn to read shipping policies...these are the same for any vendor. Life isn't without risk. If he thought it was worth more, it should have been insured for more.

Why wasnt the package insured for what he thought the selling value was going to be?

That's a good question, also his fund raiser bank account might want to be checked too along with his personal account.

Unfortunately if you live in Holbrook, you cannot have anything delivered that will be left on your doorstep. I had 2 missing shipments at Christmas. They were left on my doorstep around 10:30 am and when I went home at noon they were gone. Now I have to have any order delivered to my work address. Someone in Holbrook seems to enjoy going around swiping packages off people's door steps.

Ah big business at it's best. I use UPS for all the shipping at my company and I cannot tell you how many packages they have lost and if you do not take out their insurance then you are SOL. FEDEX is starting to look really good to me. Right now I have a package that was misrouted according to them, should have been here yesterday, I hope I get it today. And UPS should step up and donate, lord knows they have the money.

No doubt a Ranger fan stole it, probably from Brooklyn. Check the blue seats at the next Ranger game.

Had a package shipped from NC to FL and it "disappeared." Had the standard $100.00 insurance but even for that UPS wanted receipts for everything before they'd cough up the lousy $100. Goodbye UPS, helloooo Fed-X.

Ah c'mon you neanderthals. Why should UPS make up for the lost items? Why wasn't the package insured for the likely value of the contents? There isn't a shipping service out there that would make up the difference. Unless of course the sender makes a really big deal out of it and notifies the local papers, hoping for a big payday...Oops, they just did that, didn't they? This guy doesn't really sound like someone that raises $ for a good cause.

you guys do not know shipping very well you can insure something for any amount you want but that doesn't mean that the carrier will pay for it. If this came from a vendor he would only be able to insure for replacement cost. For the amounts mentioned if it is a collectable you would have to have an appraisal before shipping.

This is so typical of UPS. They are crap. The service is crap the reps are crap and could care less about you or your package. This is why they are so cheap. Alot of companies use them because they cost less than FedEX. however FedEX will bend over backwards to rectify the problem and make the customer happy. UPS is NOT looking for this package, they DO NOT care.

Btw, I use UPS and USPS all the time for both business and personal. I may just be lucky, but they've never lost a package. Yet. But I tell you one thing: If I was sending something that valuable, I would make sure that I had it properly insured.
