Be careful of dog parks. My vet says he see's lots of injuries showing up at his office due to fights that dogs get into in these parks. The dog whisperer says he doesn't think that it's a good idea either.
With all that said, I guess it's at least a step in dog friendly direction.

Excellent! Now I have a reason to license my dogs. The fees are worth it. Thanks for the tip Mook, I'll proceed with caution.

This is great, now I have a place to bring my Bull Mastif and my pitbulls. They'll love it! Roaming free to play with the other dogs. Yummy.

If all the money squandered on pets was instead used to alleviate human suffering, would the world be a better place?

This is great! I would love to take my miniature pinscher, Freddie, to a dog park. My one concern is not about the dogs themselves, but the owners...hopefully everyone that brings their pets here is responsible by keeping an eye on their dogs and certainly not bringing around a dog that might be unpredictable around so many people and other dogs. Other than that, I love this idea.

I see everything negative about a "dog park." My son uses one in Nashville and to me there is so much to be concerned about. First of all, stupid people allow their children to walk among the dogs who are playing and have no concern for the little toddlers among them. They can get into the middle of a dog fight or just dog interaction and get really hurt. Especially when the stupid parents are socializing and not watching them. There is the potential for the dogs to spread kennel cough or some other contagious disease among the pack. Not all dog owners are responsible canine companions. Most of the folks who go to these places are people who are trying to socialize themselves and are not watching their pets. This is going to leave the town open to major lawsuits. I am surpised that the town took this on.

I would never bring my dog to one of these places as I care too much about him and would also not want to have him harm a child by accident.

Do you live in Flushing? Have you ever checked out the dog park in Woodhaven. Very friendly people and they frown upon dogs that don't act right. Stay away from the one by 112th & 64th in Forest Hills because there are some mean dogs that go there and the owners don't care.

It is important to keep the small dogs away from the big dogs. Even a Jack Russell terrier can be vicious. Remember they are animals and even the best advocate of these parks may have a dog that may attack at anytime. I would also suggest keep small children out of these parks! I believe leached parks are the best.

No, because pets deserve to be on this planet just as much as humans do. I know quite a few people who have been saved because of the companionship of a pet.

Suzie, I am all for a dog park. My mother takes her Wheaten Terrier to a dog park on the East River in Manhattan. She loves it! Never has she been attacked, atrracted some strange disease or had an issues with the other pet owners. I think the park is a great idea.

Plus it is alot better then another empty building or strip mall littering Route 25.

Gee, can you tell it is an election year!!!!!!
What the hell was Foley and the board thinking when they passed this resolution???
My tax money went to this B.S. Project.
This is right next to the old K-Mart right. At least hopefully something nice and USEFUL will be there soon to cover up that eyesore.

Has anyone ever seen a police K9 visiting a dog park?

No, they don't want to risk ruining the time and effort required to make the dog 100% reliable.

Animals deserve care and concern too. There are many humans that don't. And why is it that animal haters always jump to, "there are suffering people that need money". It's my money, and my choice to help animals. Plus, are you looking over my shoulder? How do you know I don't give money to human causes as well?

Forgot to add, I have taken my dog to dog parks. Unfortunately, there is alwas one person who cares very little for the safety of others. I have seen people fail to clean up after their pet, even when they watched them do their business, kids being allowed to wander amongst running dogs, unnuetered males getting aggressive and the owners simply laugh it off. I no longer take my dog to these places. I let him socialize with other dogs of people I know instead.
