Three local districts earn piece of $11M federal grant

If one looks at the DOE snapshots, they will see 2 very interesting facts.

1) When it tells you the number of students tested, it breaks it down into ethnic groups. You will then also see a breakdown of ethnicity within Free/Reduced lunches. These numbers have always been almost identical plus or minus a couple. It is logical and supported by data to draw a conclusion that a very high number of Hispanics (above atleast 95%) are on Free/Reduced lunches.

2) Test scores in the past couple of years see Hispanic children surpassing the white free/reduced lunch children. The Hispanic scores are going in an upward trend and the white are going downwards. The 21st Century grant that was received for after school tutoring is for ALL students who need extra help. Title One funds are also used for assistance outside the classrooms as well. Not all school corporations who applied for the 21st Century grant had a 40% decrease in funding.
