NOONE from IVY Tech. Pat Corey is the Director of Fund Raising and SHE didn't even take the TIME to show up. Nor ANYONE representing the School. They made Grandpa Bill the SACRAFICIAL LAMB!!! The WORD in the Meeting was "The Giving has NOT been What they EXPECTED"
People Promised ONE AMOUNT and GAVE LESS. NOW, the Money is NOT there to Pay the BILLS. Wanna Know who MOST of the BILLS are OWED to? Construction. Wanna know who is in CHARGE of Construction? STAN the Man. The SAME person that is President of Frankfort Economic Development! The SAME man that is PRESIDENT of Clinton County Economic Deveolpment Association! THIS my fine idiotic Friend has to do with TAXPAYERS funds going IN to someplace that they were TOLD they had PRIVATE Citizens Bellying up to the BAR like ROCKAFELLERS to GIVE. Either Get you BUTT to the MEETINGS OR go to the County AUDITORS Office and PAY for the Minutes it's ALL there in BLACK and WHITE! PLEASE don't READ the TIMES, consider yourself INFORMED then, come in HERE and ASK for someone to support THEIR posts. You will NEVER get the TRUTH in the Frankfort TIMES!
I stopped reading your rant after the words "$650 Mil", as in 650 million dollars. You can't get the amount right and yet you have the gall to criticize a Times reporter for being inaccurate. Incredible.

have you given a donation to any churches, salvation army, good will, and all the other charitable organizations out there? no??? most likely you don't like all of them and only give to those whom champion a cause you agree with. so you need to stfu in regards to donations.
you think ivy tech is the future of our community? that's a shame. sorry you don't care about the manufacturing, wholesale, and retail businesses around here. i believe in those who care enough to give back to the community. those listed above paid to be here. they might get the occasional abatement, but they invested heavily into their own facilities. not so with ivy tech. the city promised them the moon and now they need a loan because they didn't plan well. not the taxpayer's problem, punjab.
i gave my donation three times. state taxes, county taxes, and city taxes. now they want more because they didn't wait to have a high percentage of their pledges in their hands before they acted. that is stupid.
since you want it so badly, why dont you and the other handful give them the loan?
what kind of people take on the responsibilies of a project of this magnitude and not have a back up plan if there are financial issues? obviously people who are clueless in the world of finance.
why doesn't the mayor ask the board of works and judy sheets office for the loan? he said there is over a million bucks floating out there. i would bet that money only exists on paper and really isnt in the 'bank'.
the county doesnt need to be loaning anyone or anything money. they cut the employee's hours as well as cut other things and still are 229k over the budget allowed. then to ask for money from a fund site that is connected with the troubled emt program? ludicrous!!!
i agree with the others on here about you, mr punjab. you are full of yourself and think you know it all.no one gives two shits about your education. diplomas don't mean shit when you don't have street experience. and you definitely are sorely lacking in that world.
Yes, I have donated either my money or my time to all those organizations over the years, have you?

As for your comment about manufacturing jobs, as I said before those are slowly but surely dying away, and they are not coming back. The Frankfort and Clinton county workforce needs education & training, not in manufacturing, but in highly skilled engineering and information technology field. And Ivy Tech can help with that.

And just where are the jobs in Frankfort for those skilled degrees? And have you checked out the ISTEP scores at Frankfort High school. Come on let's be realistic here the culture of Frankfort is not going to support a golf course , IVY Tech. It's like I heard someone say the other day It's like putting lipstick on a pig it's still a pig. It does sadden me Frankfort was such a great city to raise your children however I truly don't believe it will ever be a town that will draw new manufacturing, up scale resturants Frankfort has missed the opportunity to grow and now Boone County and other counties will be the winners.

Those jobs are not in Frankfort, yet. But the city and county shows it has a workforce with a higher level of education then high -tech and information related companies would be more willing to locate here.

The culture of Frankfort needs to change, and Ivy Tech is a step in the right direction. As for the high school, all of my children got excellent grades and ISTEP scores wile attending CSF. At the elementary/middle/high school levels it's as much about the parents being involved as it is the kids. If the parents don't give a crap about education or expect the schools to put in 100% of the effort into their child's education while the parents gives very little effort then that child will most likely fail.

Frankly your attitude is a part of the problem as well.

The culture does need to change. You and your merry little men need to understand that Frankfort is in a different season of life. The Roxy is gone, Clancy's is now H and R Block. It isn't what it was in the 70's.

Ivy Tech will do nothing to bolster this town in regards of education or training. The students will ultimately end up in Lafayette to finish out their requirements. You and your band of thieves attitude towards IT is over rated.

Do we need post ed opportunities. Yes sir. Could it have been done at the Library? Yes sir. Will Ivy Tech increase downtown's economy? No sir. Will they ever offer complete degrees in Frankfort at the current facility. No sir.
Will they ever move to their own bigger facility? Depends on whether you and your cronies are gonna make the taxpayers pony up more money to give it to them. Thousands if us think that they will be gone in five years and the taxpayers will be stuck holding the bag of credit card and bank loans

Your kids did well because the language issues that teachers face today are very different from the mid 80's and back so don't be hanging your hat on the parents.

Why should teachers be held accountable when their students might night be able to speak or comprehend English??? There are enough 2nd generation families of the Hispanic families that it shouldn't be an issues. And don't be labeling me a hater in that either. I welcome everyone equally, but as they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans. Or in this case, learn our language. No one is saying adapt permanently to our culture.

"Band of Merry Men" lol, you really think that I have some sort of pull in local government. How wrong you are.

So just because an individual may have to takes classes at IVT Lafayette to finish their degree means they will leave Frankfort when the graduate?

My kids graduated in the 2000's, when CSF already has a sizable number of ESL students. Didn't affect my children's education in the least. Stop using the Hispanic population as an excuse for the fact that many, many white parents in this community don't give a shit about education, and that attitude transfers to their children.

It will take 3-4 generations of Hispanic children born in this great country until English becomes their dominant language. Such has always been the case with non-English speaking immigrant populations.

Welcome back to Fkt from Washington

That 3-4 generation statement is a cop-out. Communications are vital. You know that. While I agree that parents have a roll, your attitude thinking that education failure in Frankfort is all a white trash (your words elsewhere) is a pure attempt of living in a different town than Frankfort. Maybe that's what they do in your, what's the name of that town in Washington state that you registered your account under again??

When teachers are mandated by the state instead of being guided by the needs of their local communities, schools will fail. One of the many requirements for school is that the student needs to have a verifiable understanding of their English speaking skills in regards to their age. Teachers should not have to provide extra attention to those who cannot comprehend language. But that's a common sense solution and not an Ivy Tech answer now so I am certain you'll rebut that.

And rebut away with your political republican bullshit, because as one poster stated, you are the lone person on here that agrees with yourself.

Washington... That some funny shit right there....

Your disdain for Hispanics comes across loud and clear.

Should Hispanics walking on the street be randomly approached by Frankfort police and asked for proof of American citizenship?

When you see one in Frankfort do you automatically think "He/She is illegal!"?

Is it OK for you if an 'American' wants, in your words to 'make a descent living and be LEFT alone'? BTW, I think you meant 'decent', not 'descent'.

Hmmm, I'm not the first person here to refer you by that name. Wonder why that hits a nerve?

So an individual can make enough at Ruler Foods to support his/her family?

Go ahead and keep your head stuck in the sand concerning manufacturing jobs. I hear automation at Frito Lay is making some job obsolete. Just don't get angry when someday you are told "I told you so". Frankfort and Clinton county can change, why you don't want it to change really puzzles me.

As a child of Great Depression parents, I learned how to survive easily on minimum wage. Now that I have bettered myself, I will have a great retirement in the years to come. Why? Because I never ever spend more than I can be responsible for. Had one mortgage, and the other two houses have been cash transactions. I have no sympathy for people or Govts who choice to not live within their means .

The concept of paying for other people's bad decisions sickens me and thousands of other taxpayers in Clinton County. But you don't care because you want things your way and will do and say whatever to make that happen. You're a sad, sad example for our children to follow in those regards.

People in the U.S. have been taught to live outside their means. There are many studies by highly regarded experts to that statement. Anyone with a H.S. graduate degree knows how to find that info, so good luck.

People's success in life isn't always measured by education.

Change??? You and your buddy's change is costing taxpayers more money. That Ivy Tech bldg is a prime example.

Sorry that you have zero vision of meaningful change in Frankfort and Clinton County. Government finances are not the same as personal finances.

And you didn't answer the question: Can an individual raise a family today by working only at Ruler Foods?

Since you hate the Ivy Tech building (aka old Frankfort Times building), what should be done it? You just can't wish that all the work that has currently been done on it would magically disappear.

It's obvious that you don't understand the concept of not spending money that you don't have in hand. You and the chamber director must have attended the same finanace classes. Like someone else posted, this isn't "Field of Dreams". Just because you built it doesn't mean they will come.

Did you miss this quote, you idiot?? "I learned how to survive easily on minimum wage."

That can be any job short of being a waitress or waiter. Since Ruler isn't a resturant, then they have to pay minimum wage. It isn't about the paycheck, it's about figuring out how to make due. It's about bartering, couponing, and stretching that dollar for everything you can. Obviously you haven't had to do that. But of course when you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you don't know how to make do.

I think morons like the 40 or so that you associate with that forced us into this situation should pay for it. I gave at the office twice. Now your wanting the county to dip into a fund site that is the center of controversy with the EMTs. I can't help but question who ends up with that bucket of cash if your city takes control of the EMT's. That should scare all county dwellers.

It's obvious you idiots didn't plan well because your boy Billy had to go ask for a loan.
