From the article:"Municipal leaders representing Frankfort and Clinton County have taken actions to see Ivy Tech-Frankfort completed – both the city and county councils committed to giving about $125,000 in additional funds to the project.
After the final bids were accepted the project total came to $3.5 million. About $1.35 million of that total would be publicly sourced, pushing the public side about $250,000 more than originally projected. On Monday, the City Council approved their portion of the monies; on Tuesday, the County Council agreed to appropriate its half, but county officials must first advertise the action before any money can be officially appropriated.
In accordance with the city and county inter-local agreement, the two entities are jointly funding for the public side of the project, which includes landscaping and parking.
The city will take its portion of the money from the already approved budget.
“And just for additional clarification, I am not asking the (City) council for additional appropriations,” said Mayor Chris McBarnes, who said that the money is still within the city’s means.
City Councilmen Eric Woods and Jake Myers were not present for Monday’s vote, but all attending council members approved the money. Many members praised the work that is being done and stated that they want to see the project completed.
“I just want to add that I don’t think anybody likes spending more money than what they planned on,” said Councilman Josh Uitts.“Considering the magnitude of this project and the amount we would be adding, I feel good about it, I’m for it. Let’s finish this up.”
County Councilmen indicated unanimously that they will vote to approve their portion of the funds from their landfill tipping fees budget.
“My thinking is, and it kind of mirrors what I thought when we had our last discussion, I think we want to try and keep this from non-tax dollars if we can,” said County Council President Alan Dunn.

"Yawn" Now lets see where the funds come from for the new fire truck, South Maish Road project, matching percentage of the stellar grant, salaries for dispatch and simply fix the roads that have deteriorated. Glad to see zero tax dollars have been used. LMAO, if its in the budget, its tax money one way or the other.

You, of all people, know that one you go "all in", you can't back away.

Keep saying what you want, but this project is covered in appraisal manipulation, under the table deals, and deception by most if not all of the leaders of this community.

Oh, I forgot that this is Topix. All accusations are automatically assumed true until they are proven otherwise. No real proof required.

So Punjabby ....

The original projected numbers were $1M from Taxpayers and a total project cost of $2.5M - This comes from the original announcement.

Now the project is costing $3.5M and the Taxpayers are on the hook for $1.35M.

Project cost is up 40% from original while Taxpayers portion is up 35%!

Punjabby, you would not have a job if your project had an overrun of 35% to 40%.

Why is this acceptable with Government projects?

How is this living within our means or treating this as a household budget? The Mayor was quoted as the project was such last week.

The Frankfort Times is not the only newspaper to experience large drops in circulation over the last 15-20 years. Such drops have more to do with technology like the internet and how individuals consume news than they have to do with changes in editors and publishers.

Now there's a Mcbarnes response. Oh wait, he was quoted as saying: "prove it".

You want proof? Go pull the appraisals on all the land that has traded hands. Quit depending on the Times to print everything. They won't and you know it. That's why you always quote them and then someone who is significantly smarter than you comes on here and gives you verifiable printed information and then you go into hiding, make a smart-ass remark about their "location", or twist it again.

Then when your done doing that. Wonder on over and take a look at the land transfers.

Then if you still want proof, ask your buddy Mcbarnes why he promised the Ivy Tech people that he'd move the utilities for free? He can deny it all he wants, but they did not deny it.

Do some of your own research? Isn't that what you'd do in your IT business? Isn't that what your customer's expect? Do you rely purely on what someone tells you or do you do some extra digging to prove that your getting the straight scoop or some bullshit.

When I read your crap, which usually is the Times B.S., I can't help but go and poke around the courthouse, www.clintonco.com , or some other credible source to obtain info. And of course that's when I find you are full of shit yet again.

So, go ahead, turn this around, call out whatever you want, but you are either stupid as hell or you are so in bed with Mcbarnes that you won't allow yourself to see the light.

The wrath will be paid by the girl. She made poor decisions by putting herself there voluntarily. She will forever regret that night. She choose to get intoxicated in that crowd, her decision. The parents now decide to drag her through the public eye by making her relive this horrible night, instead of helping her heal. Seems bad decisions run in that family.

No, I didn't. I just outlined all of that stuff for shits and grins.

Are you a flippin moron? By your response quoted above, I'd say yes you are. People, including myself share the results of our checking things out as well as attendance at various meetings, only to be met with your illogical responses.

Maybe you should prove our comments wrong!!! Why don't you share your factual "results" with the rest of the class?

Face it... you are intimate with Mcbarnes. I accept that. Glad your happy with his performance. Many of us are not and until you all by your little lonesome self can prove that courthouse records, Harris appraisals, and your economic mafia's paper-trails are all wrong, you might as well be talking to yourself or another of the few green shirts left sucking on the teat of Mcb.

I've got cattle smarter than you and that's saying a shitload.

As for Mayor McBarnes and I being 'intimate', I've shaken the man's hand once. And as I noted before, I didn't vote for him in the mayoral election. Thought he was too young for the job.

"Economic mafia"? You need to wash your tinfoil hat, it must be getting pretty rancid.
