Just read in the March 7, 2013, issue of Springboro Sun "School employees agree to negotiations..."
Let's all shout out Thank You and Applause Applause to our SEA and SCEA for showing a willingness to work cooperatively to negotiate labor agreements that are financially sustainable...
"Because the Board of Education is elected to represent the community, "we will discuss the importance of transparency in the negotiations process for the benefit of the entire Springboro School community with the SEA and SCEA," said Jim Rigano, board vice president. "It is our hope that, with the assistance of the SEA and SCEA, a negotiations process that is open and transparent can be agreed upon and fully communicated to the community."

The current board majority is transparent regarding their own political agendas. NOT in the interests of our children, but where they ride the political pony to their destination.

Your agenda of bully-minded union politics, seeking to reverse our reform-minded board's new philosophy of children first budgeting to business as usual for union first, is clearly seen, and fully rejected. It is in the best interest of our students' 21st century education to fully support the good work being done by our BOE majority members. And to get the best return on our "investment" in our children's future, we must support efforts promoting individual academic success at each one's highest potential.
This discussion goes far beyond the walls of Springboro schools. This discussion is about the gradual, yet systematic lowering of the bar of academic expectations for ALL of Ohio's public school students - all in the name of each and every district's respective struggle to get the top State rating.
The next batch of posters sent Boro and other top ranked districts ought to read.... "Proficient with Distinction"

Why are you posting these false accusations and spreading lies on this blog against Springboro Schools BOE majority members...
who are some of Springboro's BEST parents, neighbors, and great public servants... who proudly serve in the BEST interest of our school children and their BEST future?
Let us encourage our BOE majority NOT to defer to "business as usual" before 2009, when previously elected board members and school district leaders "bowed" to best interest of Union First, leaving our kids' first interests behind.
Let us be encouraged by truths that lift our minds higher than status quo indoctrination of "already being the best we can be"...

2000 plus children in this district are not getting the education the taxpayers are funding. They sally forth into the world with a substandard knowledge base. The system that produces these children is right here in our school system.
The BOE has changed mightily over the past 12 years our children have been in school. The one constant, however, is the school system in which they learn.
75% of our teachers have been employed in this district longer than five years.
How does the competency in math plummet from 3rd through the 8th grade?
Did the three different school boards have a heavy hand in that debacle?
Which school employees have the wherewithal to change that direction of education?
It is not the custodial staff.

as I stated on another thread ...
I don't know about any other math classes but in my son's 7th grade math class the teacher constantly refers him to penda learning or study island web sites to work on math problems. The problem is, he hasn't even been 'taught' how to work the problems. The teacher expects the WEB SITE to do that. The teacher also posts videos but they aren't any better.
If this is what math 'teaching' is today it's no wonder they are "proficient".
And don't get me started on the constant use of 'open book' tests that are given in other subjects he takes.
The union only cares about lining their pockets. If they REALLY cared about the children they would get rid of the dead weight, lousy teachers and replace them with someone who wants to teach.
To start, how about getting rid of the grotesquely overweight JHS spanish teacher that can't use a computer and uses hand written assignments to pass out to the kids.
