250,000.00 of our tax dollars gone
Date: 2013-01-13, 11:03AM
At the last township meeting Mr Ed Wade gave 250,000.00 of our tax money to the city of Springboro. He could have paid for the new hired fire chief Mr kidd a retire rehire. I have no doubt that by handing over 250K to the city, by the way he owns and operates Wade insurance company inside the city limits, that he will receive a lot of votes in the next election for himself.
This 250 K could have been used for a tax holiday from just one of the 14 levys we have on us. Make you vote count so we can get back to saving the over taxed payers a few bucks when we can.
And put a stop to double dipping. Call me crazy but isn't this the same as buying votes??
Why isn't the media reporting this?
Look forward to May when there will be a fire levy on the ballot. Instead of a tax holiday due to over collection of our tax dollars and having an enormous cash reserve they will put a levy on the ballot but first they have to spend down their reserves so they don’t look rich.

These bullies are doing nothing less to city/township heavily-burdened taxpayers than SCARING up a false budget crisis, all the while bullying our families into buying into their lies about union employees being CARING public servants, sacrificing themselves for others who are willing to pay their price. Don't be fooled by these same old tactics of the government preaching harm to our families IF we don't dig deeper into our thin wallets to fatten the growth of bigger local government.

VOTE NO INCREASED TAXES! VOTE NO WAY IN MAY WILL WE BE BULLIED INTO VOTING INCREASED TAXES ON OUR HOMES!

More comments about Double Dipping, you can find out how many people in your local schools, local townships and Cities are retired and rehired. Ask for the records of whom is currently a retire rehire and how much they make. It is a public record and is your right to know.

It happened right here in Clearcreek Township. When Dennis Pickett retired July a year ago, Trustee President Mr Ed Wade couldn't wait the 75 days required by law to rehire Mr Picket so he could join the ranks of the double dippers too. With 5,000.00 per month from the township retirement, then add that to his new salary of 84,000.00 and that does not include his car allowance and several other perks, the one I like is he can come to work or not,( no joke ). He can choose to come to work when at his own choice. That comes to about what most of us hard working tax payers make, 144,000.00, RIGHT!

The only way to put a stop to these buzzards flying around the pot of gold is to stop paying taxes. When we all do that then the public workers will come down to earth, like us.

They will never realize that our financial crisis is due to their spending, padding government pockets, protecting each other, taking from the real work force until we stop handing it over to them. Take these spenders out of office, say no to new and existing taxes, downsize your tax burden. We have also have triple dippers in our government.

Actually, as I understand it, the $250,000 is a portion of inside milage paid by City of Springboro residents to the township. So, it isn't your money - it is City of Springboro residents' money. And the township is sending that back to the City to support leisure time services and City park facilities for everyone to enjoy, including township residents who do not pay ANYTHING for use of City parks. Sounds like a fair and equitable thing for the township to do.
Sounds like an UNFAIR and INEQUITABLE thing for the Three Clearcreek Township Trustees (Mr. Wade, Mr. Gabbard, Mrs. Anspach)
to do; voting against over-taxed Clearcreek Township homeowners' rights to a tax holiday which was the FAIR thing to do, since the township has accumulated big-money surplus of over-collection of taxes from township homeowners.

Sounds like we need New Leadership in township government BEFORE we vote ourselves increased taxes in May.
Let's encourage all our friends and neighbors to be fair to themselves and their families FIRST; Just Say No to New Money for local government spending increases; and Vote New Leadership for township trustee in November.

from DDN...Unlike in other townships, Kidd pointed out his department covers a city and township. As a bedroom community, Clearcreek Twp. also lacks commercial development that can lessen the tax burden on homeowners, he added.

TRUTH IS: ONLY HOMEOWNERS CAN DO WHAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T DO!

TRUTH IS: HOMEOWNERS CAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF LESSENING THE BIG GOVERNMENT TAX BURDEN ON HOMEOWNERS!

TRUTH IS: HOMEOWNERS CAN LESSEN OUR TAX BURDEN BY JUST SAYING NO WAY IN MAY TO THIS OUTRAGEOUSLY UNNECESSARY BIG TAX INCREASE ON OUR FAMILY HOMES!

Truth is... Nobody is going to be in prison for voting no tax increases on our homes in May. And nobody's safety is in jeopardy
as a result of failing this May fire levy. Stop spreading lies that persons posting on this blog are suggesting that persons should stop paying taxes.
Scary threats won't catch on with strong-willed responsible citizens who are standing up to Springboro community bullies who constantly suggest threatend harm to our homes and our families
if we don't "hand over the money" to the government, at their request.

FACTS ARE ALL THE SAME.....

Double dipper township administrator Dennis Pickett holds the purse strings, tightening them against the fire department needs and loosening them up to good old boys gabbard and wade; using taxpayers money to purchase gabbard property.
Help Stop Government Waste by Stopping Tax Increases!
Say NO in May to New Money for the fire department and allow Pickett to cut out wasteful spending of our tax dollars (which are over-collected from Township homeowners).

But of course...this is a fire levy, important for our community and not some political ploy. They promised 10 years last time and gave us 12 before coming back for money. Saw on the web that they picked up several million in grant funds to offset local costs. In the last few years they built a station a minute from my house. I can't ask for a more direct benefit for my money. Plain and simple, that's why I'm a yes vote for the fire dept.

I'll use my name, unlike the nameless people on this topix segment.Hats off to the 2 that listed there names. At least they are not afraid of their beliefs.
So links are posted in the threads and I appreciate those, at least there are sources for me to check.
When things are needed the voters are the ones that pony up the funds. If not then things don't happen. I see they need to replace fire engines and an ambulance. Those are pretty costly items. I guess if we don't buy them, then I can't be upset when they don't come to my house.
Tonight a fire engine came to my neighbors house for a kid that fell. The fire guy told me they came beacuse the other engine and ambulance were on another call.I thought the "call" was a starnage thing to be taking care of. He said that is what they call an emergency. I asked why it took so long for an ambulance to show up, he said it came from down by the career center and his engine came from South Main st.I asked about the levy and he said he isn't supposed to talk about it on duty because it is considered political activity. I thought that was dumb. He said I could look at the levy website or call the fire chief. I went to the website. At least now I know what is going on and why they need a levy. I read the levy funds for a fire department may only be used for the fire department. If the funds are used elsewhere it is illegal.Pesky thing called the Ohio Revised Code verified that for me.
I keep seeing the same hateful post that are about elected officials and the townhip administrator. They do decide what the fire department does, but not how the fire department received it's money. Voters do. If voters decide that they want the current level of service they should vote yes. If the don't want the current level of service vote no.
I guess since cost at my home have gone up; food, gas, cost of a car, etc... Maybe the fire and police departments have seen that to.
I will support the levy, I was gald they took care of my neighbor tonight.

Seems pretty obvious from Clearcreek Township meeting minutes posted on the web that double dipper Pickett got approval of trustees wade/gabbard of this highest 4.5 mill levy to get it on the ballot in May; Obviously, Pickett realizes that voters are going to say NO to this outrageous tax increase; obviously the Pickett plan then is to CUT EXPENSES and then come back in November with the lowest mill that was discussed the meeting. Voters need to stand firm in voting NO NEW MONEY; failing the fire levy in May will allowing pickett to CUT EXPENSES, then hold a community-wide Fire department budget meeting, open to the public, giving voters the financial FACTS that we need to know BEFORE caving in to these scary threats of endangering the safety of all.
Just say NO to Increaed Taxes. In due respect to all Springboro taxpayers, we need to send a clear message to double dipping Pickett, that we have friends and neighbors all around us who are footing the bill for his big salary (and the salary of his assistant--just in case Pickett decides not to come into work for the day) out of OUR retirement savings. Pickett is no more elite than the least of these among us.

What are the facts?
Did the Township buy Jason Gabbard's property for $1.5 million for a park? Shouldn't a park levy have been the way to ask the citizen's if they wanted to pay for it?
Did the township trustee's refuse to give the taxpayer's a tax holiday as recommended by the fiscal officer for money collected but in her words not needed? Does the Township not have a surplus of cash between $12-14 Million?
The article states: "
"Unlike in other townships, Kidd pointed out his department covers a city and township. As a bedroom community, Clearcreek Twp. also lacks commercial development that can lessen the tax burden on homeowners, he added.
Since 2001, the service area's population practically has doubled, while the department has continued to operate on existing levies and grants, officials said."
Doesn't the city pay the township for this service?
Why does the Township lack commercial development? Unfriendly zoning and over taxation? If the service area's population has doubled, are not the new residents also paying taxes for this service?
If you read the meeting minutes employees are getting raises and new equipment and training are being purchased.
Maybe the Township trustees should do a survey to see how many residents have lost their jobs or taken pay cuts, how many businesses have shut down, how many businesses are struggling, how many residents are struggling, how many foreclosures there are, and how much the property value has fallen.
Is there a Budget posted on the Township website? Why does the 2012 annual financial report have all zeros'?
What are the facts?
Were you there at the public township government meeting when several township residents asked Mr. Pickett if he could show
where our township government budget can be found for review of taxpayers; and Mr. Picket had no public record of the budget to show the people. What type of leadership is this of Mr. Pickett, who doesn't have a budget to present to the taxpayers, showing his cost-effective local government services? And how in the world does purchasing the old gabbard homestead with taxpayers money fit into cost-effective local government services to the people of Clearcreek Township...?

"Our mission is to provide quality, cost-effective local government services to the people of Clearcreek Township. Our dedication to quality service and the well being of our citizens is absolute."
