Actually, as I understand it, the $250,000 is a portion of inside milage paid by City of Springboro residents to the township. So, it isn't your money - it is City of Springboro residents' money. And the township is sending that back to the City to support leisure time services and City park facilities for everyone to enjoy, including township residents who do not pay ANYTHING for use of City parks. Sounds like a fair and equitable thing for the township to do.

Wow...the tea party rhetoric is as overwhelming as it is amusing at times. There are some wild, emotional claims on the no side but a hollow, dull void of facts. It's clear you don't like the idea of a levy...but why? What is your basis? Where are your facts? I hear the jargon but I see no substance.

There are no wild emotional claims -- just facts of substance that raising taxes is not the solution to the poor management of our money being exercised by the good old boy team of gabbard/wade. The money that Springboroians earn is OURS, not some government bureaucrat (like township trustee, Ed Wade, telling taxpayers: no tax holiday for homeowners from which the governmennt has over-collected taxes; because the government can better use OUR money than we the people who earned the money).

VOTE NO NEW MONEY FOR THE FIRE LEVY IN MAY!

Actually, it is the township fire levy - so the city wouldn't be taking more of your money.....ignorance is bliss though, isn't it!

A ruse? You do know that the money that is being asked for by the fire department is legally not allowed to be used for anything but the fire department? Also, Wade & Gabbard do not run the fire department, if you hate those guys vote them out, but don't martyr your public services because you dislike the township politicians. The FD is a separate entity that maintains its own budget that has nothing to do with the township. The fire levy's (last one was in 2001) are not permanent so they take less and less money over time, as they expire we need to pass new levy's to keep our essential services funded. If we don't fund our services, their quality will decline, thats pretty simple. It isn't scare tactics, its just a fact.
The Township Trustees do control the money spent on the fire department, they approve new equipment, training, raises, employment etc. If the fire department needs money they should release a budget showing the necessity. Cathy Anspach voted no to putting the levy on, saying cost should be cut first, she see the finances, she must see something.
I think everyone supports police and firefighters, and if the levy does not pass the fire department should blame the Trustee's wasteful spending and keeping taxpayer money $14million surplus and not giving the taxpayer holiday recommended by the fiscal officer.
If your neighbor bought a new Mercedes and a new boat, then ask you to give him money to pay his electric bill and give him groceries, would you ask "Why did you buy Expensive Toys before Needs???"
If his answer is "Well the toys came out of my general account, it still has $14mill, but electric and food come out of my necessary account, it overdrawn."
Would you happily pay for his electric and groceries when your car is 10 years old and you are cutting coupons for groceries?

Where are the facts for a need of a levy? Where is a budget?
A simply Budget with amounts, numbers. I haven't seen one in the minutes, on the website, anywhere. Numbers simply math.

Isn't this fire levy about the fire department? How about we vote yes for a group that hasn't asked for money in over ten years. I for one could care less about local politics but would like a well trained and well equipped fire department showing up when I need them.

Also by doing a little research you can find out pretty quick that raises and benefits are not at the core of the levy. But it's a lot easier to spread lies and make things up. Whatever your issues are with the trustees and lord knows the do have problems I don't see any reason to punish the safety of the community. This is one group that has been financially responsible for over 12 years. I think a yes in may is the right call.

Again, the safety of the community will not implode if this unwanted and unneeded levy fails. Those that do are practicing fear mongering.

"No one wants to pay more taxes," Trustee Jason Gabbard said, noting support for the fire district in a recent community survey. "It's time to put it to a vote."
____

First Gabbard votes No to refund to homeowners the over-collected taxes...

then Gabbard votes Yes to spend thousands of dollars to conduct a survey....

then Gabbard states the survey reveals that taxpayers are happy with the level of service and do not want to pay more taxes....

then Gabbard votes YES to put the increased taxes on the ballot, telling voters to ignore what the community survey revealed, and just say yes to increasing our property taxes...

Gabbard has financially benfitted from his position as Clearcreek Township trustee, selling his family property to the township; while benefitting his family by continuing to live on the taxpayer-owned parks property. Is this not
conflict of interest and should not Gabbard resign his position as trustee of the people's money?

We the people must take control of governing ourselves by elected government representatives who will represent the best interest of all taxpayers; Gabbard has proven he has a conflict of interest in serving his own financial best interest first.

Just say no way in May to the wade/gabbard yes-yes vote to increase taxes on our homes.

Let's follow the lead of township trustee Cathy Anspich and demand cutting expenses of local government BEFORE asking taxpayers for new money.

VOTE NO IN MAY TO THE GABBARD/WADE REQUEST FOR NEW MONEY.

VOTE YES IN NOVEMBER TO REPLACE WADE WHO HAS BEEN A TRUSTEE FOR 40 YEARS.

If a fire station closes responce time will increase so how does that not equal people being a greater risk? Again I'm not arguing the trustees abuse. I just think that's a debate for a different time. I for one will support a department that hasn't asked for money in 12 years! I hate taxes as much as anyone but I enjoy having paved roads, police, and fire protection. VOTE YES IN MAY.

Who said anything about closing fire stations ? you're comparing apples to oranges. And no, this IS the time to flush out the thugs at the township level.

Bravo, Bravo! Just say No to the Gabbard/Wade request for increased taxes for the fire levy. The Clearcreek Township government already has collected more taxes from homeowners than is needed for required government services. Doesn't the township have a $14 million surplus?
Just Say No to the May fire levy tax increases on all homeowners promoting collective salary increases for government employees.
No Way in May can Springboro residents afford to pay increased salaries for the fire department employees, when we have double dipping administrators like pickett serving themselves greedily from the over-burdened taxpaying homeowners dwindling household budgets.

250,000.00 of our tax dollars gone

At the last township meeting Mr Ed Wade gave 250,000.00 of our tax money to the city of Springboro. He could have paid for the new hired fire chief Mr kidd a retire rehire. I have no doubt that by handing over 250K to the city, by the way he owns and operates Wade insurance company inside the city limits, that he will receive a lot of votes in the next election for himself.

No Way In May is ignorance bliss; and neither is the ignorance of city money. No Way In May are taxed-to-the-max homeowners going to pick up ther expense for the ignorance in leadership of self-interest trustees Gabbard and Wade.

VOTE SMART AND VOTE NO NEW TAXES! FOLLOW THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR ONLY EDUCATED TO THE FACTS TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE, MRS. ANSPICH, WHO UNSUCCESSFULLY TRIED TO EDUCATE WADE AND GABBARD, OF THEIR FINANCIAL IGNORANCE IN HIRING THE DOUBLE DIPPING KIDD, SINCE THE DOUBLE DIPPING KIDD WILL HAVE TO GO WHEN THE LEVY FAILS.
DOUBLE DIPPING TOWNSHIP ADMINSITRATORS SHOULD TEAR DOWN THIS WALL OF IGNORANCE OF THE FACTS THAT OVER-BURDENED HOMEOWNERS ARE NOT PICKING UP THE TAB FOR THESE OVER THE TOP ADMINISTRATIVE SALARIES. IT'S TIME TO CUT EXPENSES STARTING WITH FIRING DOUBLE DIPPING ADMINISTRATORS AND REFORM THE BUDGET WITH THE $14 MILLION SURPLUS BEFORE COMING TO TAXPAYERS FOR NEW MONEY.

Excellent point in that Wade "bought" himself votes by "bribing" Springboro with township money. Wade and Agenbroad are as thick as thieves, joined at the hip in throwing other peoples money around for their own personal use.
