How well do Hispanic English-Spanish bilinguals raised in Miami know the Spanish language? That is what I am investigating for my doctoral dissertation. Help me with my research. Take this short survey and you can see how your opinions on Spanish grammar compare to those of Spanish-only speakers from Latin America.

Survey is here: https://surveys.ehe.ohio-state.edu/TakeSurvey...

The truth is..the Spanish speakers here are low budget figures. Majority Hispanic speakers in Latin America are not ignorant at all and don't care about the US. Second, Mexicans, Cubans, and Central Americans, have no clue about South Americans. It's all different. they all speak Spanish, but do they always understand each other? Answer is no. Chileans, Peruvians, Argentinians, are more European oriented. I was amazed to hear on the streets from Cubans that Brazilians in Brazil speak spanish..good lord, I asked myself what kind of ignorance this country is importing.

Not an accurate observation on all points. I agree many Cubans are very arrogant and think know it all.And many speak Spanish very badly. But there is a lot of intelligent people coming from South America looking for a better life. Not all despise the US.

Do not forget that Hispanics in Miami have different lifestyles, especially according to their economic status. Spanish tend to be more standardized the higher in figures a Hispanic is in... But I've seen some Hispanics with high figures but nasty Spanish, and when I asked around they came from poor families in Latin America but struck gold in United States.
