"County commissioners are considering prospecting for oil and gas under the swampy, sprawling 37-square-mile site that is now mostly within the borders of the Big Cypress National Wildlife Preserve."

Why is this no surprise TYPICAL Miami Cuban politicians COMPLETE lack of caring for natural preserves and a TYPICAL Miami Cuban politicians way to get lots of money kicked back "under the table" and or in investments.

NOTHING is done hee unless some politician/official walks away with a bucket of cash or their friends, family get it.

Miami/Florida's wildlife preserves mean NOTHING to them.

How about letting it turn back into swamp? It was abandoned in the first place because it was not a good idea environmentally.

I agree but there is no money to be made in kick backs, investments etc when you let nature "be nature".
The run off from any drilling, mining will be a disaster for the Glades but they couldnt care less because for their Caiman island safe deposit boxes it will be real nice.

Most politicians, officials in Miami treat the place like its their own private piggy bank ,a family business and with voters who for the most part are incapable of questioning them .
Certainly not voting any incumbent out the sky is the limit for many of these politicians, officials.

WE JUST DONT CARE
Just shut the Fu...k up jerk!

Oh my .

Thats how you "debate" .
The Glades is a National park and limited in size . It is part of the States natural lanscape that BELONGS to the people not a handfull of corrupt, self serving Miami-dade Cuban politicians, officials who want to get money kicked back from oil drilling and rock mining.

As it is they have destroyed much of Miami's natural lanscape just to line their own pockets.

They have no concept of wildland preservations and have been a political disaster for Miami-dade.

Go back to your own country and destroy that instead of the constant destruction of Floridas natural wild lands.

Why do you tell someone to "shut the Fu...k up jerk!" when they care about nature and do not want it destroyed?

Is it because they are speaking the truth about Miami's disaster Cuban politicians who are destroyers of nature?

If so than you must be Cuban and part of the problem.

It being a NATIONAL park no two bit mariel will be able to get their hand on it now. The government owns it free and clear. And you know how they look upon drilling or even cutting down a tree in a national park right? This is a moot point
