Show Me The Money

United States

#1 Aug 31, 2013
Anyone ever wonder what this group has done with the money they have received through fundraisers to supposedly save the theater? Saw in the paper and on a news page that they are shooting a video on Sunday for a Kickstarter campaign to raise money online for the theater. Metropolis Planet also incorrectly reported that Larry Ward has left Metropolis. That's funny I just saw him yesterday and talked to him. I think it was stupid him giving it back to Save The Massac at a loss. Show us the money Save The Massac!

By the time they pay all the city officials off there's nothing left so they have to through another fund raiser. I say just tear the eye sore down even if they do reopen it like everything else in this town it won't last.

How about the people that want to save the theater putting up their own money to bring the place up to code? These peoples dream is a taxpayers nightmare!

They seem to act really offended whenever anybody asks "So can we have a progress update?" if they answer at all. They're a really disorganized bunch who just want to throw bingo parties. I think it's just bored women with a little money and a couple whipped guys, and none of them have any goals or savvy.

Labor Day Excitement Building Up In Metropolis, IL For Filming

Exciting times in store for Metropolis IL during the upcoming Labor Day weekend! The SuperCity will be featured in a short film for the Save The Massac Theater Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the theater online. There will be all kinds of "special guests", characters and "celebrities" showing up for the filming. Even Josh Boltinghouse, Metropolis' official Superman for the Superman Celebration, is making an appearance and will be in our Labor Day parade as well. Today, at 2 PM there will be filming of a huge crowd scene in front of the Massac Theater where the celebrities arrive via limousine and walk the red carpet and upon their arrival at the theater Superman tells them that "We aren't ready for you yet". Then there is supposed to be a close up shot where he says, "But we are ready for you" referencing those who wish to donate to the campaign. Kickstarter is a great crowd funding platform where a minimum funding goal is set for an amount of money to raise by a certain date, people pledge to donate. If the funding goal is not met by the set deadline, then no funds are collected from the pledges. Typically, different levels of pledges have certain incentive awards that are given.

The city stole the theater from the Stratemeyers. The city seems to not like successful, prosperous folks in their town.

yes. the city condemned the building because it was unsafe and an eyesore. it should have been torn down. its not fair to the previous owner for the city to give it to another private entity. this is called CORRUPTION

Stratemeyer is not anything but a crook himself, he is a crappy business man, maybe if he sues his dad enough times he will have enough money to back even another loser in his attempt to find a puppet in the system.

Jealous much? I bet he has more money in the bank than most other businesses and definitely more assets. Don't get there by being a crappy business person. He doesn't always do things the normal way but in the end he gets it done when the rubber meets the road.

They haven't started the campaign yet. They should soon. The big question in all this is what has happened to all the money that has been raised already? They were supposed to have the neon lights working a year ago and it still hasn't happened.

I'm sure to please the Ministerial Alliance even if the old Massac theater reopened no adult movie could be shown as it controls the City Council. It's a wonder females are allowed to were two piece bathing suites at the City pool. Why not rename Metropolis Squaresville?

Why don't you people come to a meeting and find out where the money is? Why don't you find out how much the payments to Larry are? Why not try and support something that might be a good thing rather than condemn? The City has no involvement in it - why not blame Sammy for allowing it to deteriorate? His asking price at one time was a million dollars? So many in Metropolis have that kind of money to try to rebuild something. God forbid something try to make it here without the support of the folks here! Keep driving to Paducah and you are the reason this town will die - blame no one but yourselves!!!

So, STMT, how about a progress report? Have all you old bags gotten off your fat bored asses yet and quit playing charity league to actually get something done? Oh, wait, I was just by the theater- nothing's been done. Well, have fun playing with other peoples money and having shitty bingo fundraisers. Losers.
