We are there for the kids. We make sure they are fed. We give them supplies to delouse. We give them food to take home on weekends when we know that it is the only food they will get. We give them opportunities that they will not have except through the school system (field trips). We protect them when we know the parents are not protecting them. We teach them morals and principles. For those of you who are belittling teachers, take a step back and think about parenting. WE ARE THERE FOR THE KIDS! Do your job as a parent and PARENT!!!

Most of the staff is that way, but those who talk about the parents and kids need to wake up.Some of the higher up's do have a God like acting way. You might be one of those, because you seem tobe patting your self on the back. An by the way state and county money pays for those kind of programs. One more thing some of the higher up's have thier pets, that circle of friends you might say take care of each other. But the way it is done is walking all over the staff member that does not fit in thier little group. So think about it.and you might agreed. I just say Beware

"Beware", sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. Have you or your child done something to make the teachers talk? Think about it!

It should not matter what a parent or a student does. It is not the job of a teacher, principal, superintendent, janitor, or lunch room employee to talk about anyone. As school staff it is your job to build the student up and you can't build them up by tearing them and their family down. I think that is the real point of the original post not what credit can be taken for what some teacher did with the state and federal government provided money for a child. Did you hug that child who was crying today? That is the true test of greatness. What you do with your heart! Not what the funding allows the staff to do that the parent can't afford to do. I know a teacher who God Bless Her is the perfect example of what a teacher should be. The best thing about her is freely given and that is real kindness, a loving heart and kind words for all of the students. She is a rare jewel in this day and time. I thank God for her and pray for more like her. Arrogance does not belong in our schools, nor does the wicked words spoken by thoughtless people.

Yes, I hug students everyday and give them words of encouragement. I spend my own money often on these children, but parents are so quick to blame teachers for everything. You are not there, when a child cries, because he/she is scared to go home. There is not a day go by that a teacher's heart does not hurt for these children. When you are there to see a child hold onto a teacher's leg, because he/she is scared to get on the bus and go home, then you might change your attitude towards teachers. Teachers are advocates for these students. If you see a teacher, a big THANK YOU would be appreciated.

However you can't seem to find any kind words to type here? Yet you do nothing but build yourself up with good deeds! I don't owe you anything! You haven't done anything that warrants you a crown. You chose your career we didn't and we as a community will either be blessed to have you or cursed and taunted by you. Try a little kindness here and maybe someone will believe that you really care, as a little kindness goes a long way. Stop bragging about what you do a real teacher doesn't brag as it isn't intentional it is just who they are!

Here's a thought. If you have a problem with one or a few people at the school, schedule a meeting and try to work it out. Next step, school board and PTA. Do something about it, because sitting here on Topix flapping your dicksuckers about it accomplishes nothing.

I heard yesterday on the news that Illinois is not paying the school bills across the state. What will happen when we don't receive state and federal funding anymore? They'll probably fire all the teachers and keep all the coaches for track, football, baseball, basketball and soccer. I'd start in the administration office for not looking forward.

People don't go into teaching for the money. Teachers are not patting themselves on the back either, they're just defending themselves from the likes of you who are always attacking them. Anyone who went into it for anything else other than the intrinsic motive of helping others wouldn't last a week.

Why on earth would there be a teacher on topix trying to plead a case? I think teachers should/would be above commenting on a gossip site. The teachers have every right to talk with others teachers about students and there home lives. Teachers have to spend all day with kids who are sent to school hungry, dirty, hair unbrushed, clothes too small, smelling of cigarets. Cigarets are something people should by after your kids are taken care of!! Instead crappy parents say they need to smoke cause kids are stressful. I'm pretty sure teachers don't get smoke breaks.

How about we change this topic to worst mother ever?!???!! I say the Tolen/Pugh woman with 6 kids has to be at the top of the list.

Actually "notateacher" I don't see how smoking cigarettes makes you a bad parent. And also btw teachers do get smoke breaks when I was in school I know a lot of teachers that stepped out side for a smoke break. Maybe sending your kids to school dirty and hungry makes you a bad parent. Maybe teachers should have a talk with those parents or someone who will do something about it instead of being on here calling people out. I'm just saying.

sammieb- Maybe I wasnt clear. If a child has no coat, clothes too small and flip flops on in the winter it does make you a shitty mom if you have a cigaret hanging out of your mouth. Its not something I just pulled out of my ass its something I see everyday. The $5 it cost for that pack could buy a pair of shoes at any resale shop. Just saying!

Smoking doesnt make you a bad parent but would a good parent make there kids inhale second hand smoke knowing it was VERY bad for them?

Maybe their smoking more then cigarettes. I completely agree on what your saying. I'm just saying I smoke and I'm still a great mom. I dont smoke around my kids. If kids are coming to school like that then someone else needs to be involved rather then the school.

Go to walgreens any day of the week, i guarantee that in the short time you are in there you will see a "mom" with tatoos, iphone, buying cigarettes, and "staples" for her family with public aid.....all while her child or children stand at her feet...filthy, greasy dirty hair, no coat.....etc. Go see for yourself you wont have to be there long to see it. everyday.
