I am ready for them. I am guessing we will have help from others across the country. Seems kinda like they are making Illinois the testing ground.

This has got to be the most fu&&ed-up state in America! First it was Attorney General Madigan and the FOID card debacle and now this. If they pass that bill I'm selling my house and moving from this communist state. This Illinois ban will include 1911's, 10-22 Ruger rifles, Glocks, pump and automatic shotguns and any firearm with a magazine capacity of 10 or more rounds. They're even going to shut down some gun clubs. Call your Representative and tell him that he's without a job if he votes for this bill!

You will not say that when the criminal kicks in your door, steals what you have worked for, rapes or kills you and your family. You will be calling for the POLICE who will take more that 30 minutes to respond....by then your dead or worse. Unless you are trained in hand to hand combat the knife will be taken from you and used as a weapon.

We are all fools...the police and the government can never protect us...the USA has turned its back on everything that is right...and supports everything that is vile, perverted and wrong in the eyes of God. Take the guns then they take our liberty, then your beliefs, and then the food! I assume you desire to be a slave to the system...like the Communist worker Bee in Russia and China, I just read that Communist China is calling for the US to disarm the citizens There pretty cheap and will not even use the cost of a bullet...no, the old sword that has killed for centuries.

Maybe you are one of those criminals that are celebrating Illinois late Christmas gift to the crooks in the state. This will be the retirement state for all the crooks as there will be no one to stop them.

Bitching on Topix will do no good, If you value your rights and want to do something to help JOIN THE NRA. In Illinois it is mandatory to have a FOID card if you are a gun owner. You should tell yourself I want to own a weapon to protect myself and family or I am an avid hunter or just a sports shooter so I feel that before I fire another shot, purchase another firearm or box of ammunition it is mandatory that I join the NRA. It is only $35.00 per year, stop bitching and do something to help protect your constitutional rights.

What is the problem? They are wanting to ban semi automatics and guns with big clips. Those are not the kinds of guns you hunt with so what is the point in having them to begin with? Oh yea I forgot about that "semi automatic" deer season we have. For crying out loud why do you need anything more than a regular pistol, rifle, or shotgun?

Because I am a widow who lives in the middle of no where. Unfortunately , they put a prison boot camp in. At first for 1st time non violent offenders. Now, it is used to process hardened criminals quickly because of prison room shortages and the Communist state of Illinois is broke! More then once I have had groups of inmate hide out on my property. Once 2 got in my house. I frequently have up state hunters w/ guns arguing w/ me that my sons deer stand is his! Having a gun where I have time to
Aim well and have more time to make the right decision is in everyones interest. If I have to shoot I won't shoot lethal first, what if they continue toward me? You don't want to try & reload, make a good decision and aim well at the same time you are in fight or flight mode. Either way , we do have a right. I am not a criminal. Have no idea why I should lose my constitutional right. Facts are crime goes down where gun ownership is up! Look at Chicago . They have the nations highest rate of murder! Only criminal, politicians , the famous or elite have guns there. Death rate for 2012 was 538!! I am for responsible , educated gun owners and for keeping our constitutional rights.. Lose this one and it makes it easier to lose others . Call congress .

What you don't understand....the language is prepared in a way that if adopted as written will outlaw even my 1890 22 cal rifle that is over 120 years old. So, this is a method to shut all sales and ownership of guns down.

Now for the semi auto issue - your in your house, an crimal kicks the door down...you have one shot in you single shot or two in you double barrel...it isn't like you see on TV (you must have never been in the military with someone shooting at you) you miss, as you are scared as hell. Now, your dead!!!

That is the reason that criminals have total control with strong gun control...Police response time is 20 - 30 minutes in the city and much worse in rural areas....time for law abiding to be dead!

Chicago has some of the strongest gun laws....do you think that crimals, gangs and drug loads have a problem smuggling guns with the drugs into the city?

The reason the rate in Chicago is going up is there are no jobs available for the poor white, black, hispanic and disadvantaged. That said, if those people have a chance they will work rather than join gangs. Hey, Chicago was the killing streets in the 1930's and still the center of crimal activity....so what has changed. We outlawed full automatice weapons in 1930's (machine guns - Maching gun Kelly) Did't stop a damn thing...only a full frontal attack on crime will eliminate your cities' problem - not attacking the law abiding citizen! Attack the gangs on the street...oh no! these low lifes have civil liberties...that is the problem. When this is your approach to crime then someone is getting paid off (dirty money) in very high places!

Your mayor has formed demilitarized zone around sections of the city....what goes on inside those areas is their problem....thus the increase in crime. Hell, the police will not even enter without full military gear.

There is an old phrase that goes, "United we stand, divided we fall."
Just as in the making of a rope or a cable, the braiding of many pieces of material make something that is exponentially stronger than the individual parts could ever be,
The immigrants who brought their families to these shores to become a part of this new nation, this upstart country that values the rights of the common man as much as that of the high and mighty, literally couldn't wait to assimilate into the society, to become part of the workforce, to have their children learn the accepted national language, to join the one man one vote political system and put their own roots deep into the fertile ground of the land of the free and the home of the brave.
They waited impatiently, sometimes for many years for their turn to come to America.
They studied and worked, obeying the laws during the eight years it took them to become citizens and the day they were naturalized was the proudest day of their lives.
They built it, they fought for it, they served in the political process and through hard work and perseverance created the most progressive, and the most prosperous and strongest nation the world has ever known.
And they took pride in calling themselves and their succeeding generations, "Americans."
These days, people come to America simply by walking across an international border and power hungry politicians subvert a two-hundred-year-old time honored immigration process in an effort to trade citizenship for party loyalty.
There is little attempt at assimilation or even to become proficient in the language and many of them come to America, not to add to the prosperity or greatness of the nation, but to be added to the already unbearable entitlement burden the hard working tax payers are forced to bear.
Others come in hopes of destroying or changing our culture, living in the freedom and prosperity of this land, huddling in their enclaves, rejoicing every time America suffers a setback in foreign policy or a terrorist attack.
Still others are just along for the ride, gaming the system, living off the liberalities of our growing socialism in a nation that once prided itself on the work ethic of it's people but now experiences months when there are more requests for disability compensation than job applications.
We have a president who carelessly throws around statements that foster racial and class envy and has belittled accomplishment reducing it to something the government helped to achieve and therefore deserves a "fair share" of.
We have a gelded Congress whose greatest fear is having to go back to the private sector and working for a living like the rest of us.
Our beloved United States of America is being torn apart, this nation whose independence and freedom was purchased with the blood of patriots, nurtured by the sweat of immigrants and maintained by the determination of many races who came together and pledged their allegiance to the ideals and commitment of the people, by the people and for the people.
The American electorate has chosen to put the fate of this nation into the hands of a socialist, a divider whose idea of the American dream bears no resemblance to the one that crossed oceans in the breasts of brave determined men a couple of centuries ago.
In the coming years we will begin to pay for our folly as our national debt slips beyond our reach, our military is weakened to a dangerous level, more industry moves off shore and the American dollar shrinks and loses it's place as the accepted international trade currency.
The stage has been set, the sheep have been scattered and one nation under God is being divided and conquered.
Is there still a "We the People" abroad in this land who still have the will, the courage and the love of country to stand in the gap? Is there a leader out there somewhere who can reunite this nation and reignite the flame and bring America back to her senses?
A divided America is waiting.

I for one believe all semi auto and auto guns have not point and that nobody should own them. And as for hunting with your rifle, I hope your not deer hunting with it considering it is illegal. Not my pump action shot gun I will get 4 damn good shots off not having to reload if someone comes into my house. And if I miss all four times then I don't think I need to own a gun with that poor of a shot.

Some people don't care about other peoples rights until it affect them. When they come to his door to pick up his pump, he'll be singing a different tune then.

Your pump shotgun is illegal if it's holding 4 shells meaning you have taken out the plug. Lots of people squirrel hunt and coyote hunt with semi-automatic rifes and bird hunt, deer hunt, and rabbit hunt with semi-auto shotguns.

Illinois senate stated yesturday that they didn't have the support to pass a gun bill now. They will try to bring it up again in the spring. It never went up for a vote.

I think the politicians know what will happen if they side for a ban on guns in Illinois. There will be a mass exodus of people leaving the state and those that choose to stay will NEVER vote these guys back in office again. You can bet that Gov. Quinn is DONE as the leader of Illinois. Smith and Wesson has several manufacturing plants in Illinois and this means they will be closed down. And this equates to more job lose for Illinois residents.
