I feel the having a strip club in Metropolis is a disgrace to the city. As for the mayor, you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing this, and not knowing what you signed off on. The mayor has to approve or disapprove the liquor license. He won't help the business in need, yet he will run to a business such as a strip club. Wake up Metropolis it's time to take a stand and get Billy out of office, he might be a nice guy, but he's an aweful mayor. So much for struggling businesses, sorry if you fail. But if the mayor doesn't support you, then why should the city. I hate the ways of this town. Maybe this will all fall apart, we can only hope!
Resident, you just might find youself in court facing some serious charges. Malicious slander of an elected official doing his job as written by IL Law is indefensible. Why don't you state your name or shut up, if you think you know the law better than an attny you really should have to prove it.

Slander? you have lost your mind! My daughter knows the law better than the Legal Counsel that our Mayor has for the City of Metropolis! You have got to be kidding me, Slander? Give me a break. If I am not mistaken We still live in America where Freedom of Speech is guaranteed by the Constitution, regardless of whether you agree or not. I'm with you Resident, we got to get this man and all his sidekicks out of office and fast!

I like anonymous posters calling for folks to post their names or shut up.It's like calling someone stoopid and expecting to be taken seriously. While I don't partake myself, put me in the "for it" column where titty bars are concerned. There's just something unmanly and un-American about voting against titties in any shape, form or fashion.

EXACTLY!! Of course that isn't how some people think. Doesn't that old saying go "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" but only if it supports your point of view! I believe that might just be the best example of hypocrisy I've ever come across.

As far as it being an ordinance already in place by the city it is not worth the paper it is written on. It was deemed unconstitutional by a higher court and the city knows this. Therefore the Guy opening the new joint is in the drivers seat and he knows all of the angles so the city just has to take their lumps

A closed mind can't learn. I feel sorry for children born into homes dominated by fanatics. I remember the time when unmarried couples were subject to arrest while living together. The Legislature corrected that. It's time the Legislature outlaws Blue Laws and all types of oppresion. Some people we could do without very well.

No, the Mayor DID NOT have to issue the Liquor License to this establishment...The Mayor is the Liquor Commissioner, and as the Liquor Commissioner he has it within his power to decline an application for Liquor, due to the detrimental effect it will have on the community, he can choose to investigate before the license is issued and deny the license based upon the investigation, just look at East Cape and the other communities that these establishments are located in....there is NO Economy except that of strip clubs, this place will RUIN any type of other Economic Plan that could have been established out by the interstate....really is East Cape somewhere that Metropolis needs to be trying to resemble? This is a HORRIBLE decision by OUR Mayor! If you do not believe what I write here...look it up for yourself on the Illinois website....under Illinois Liquor Control Commissioner Handbook and you will see that what I say here is the truth!
Also there is an Ordinance against this type of business being allowed to come into the City of Metropolis, it is an Ordinance that is being ignored by both the Mayor and the Legal Council....they are making excuses as to why this should be allowed to be located here in Metropolis....they are cowards, and they are "in bed" with the owner of this establishment.
It is people like you that makes it necessary to set clear guidlines so that justice prevails. Using your simple minded logic? No liq permits would be granted. Why don't you circulate a petition outlawing everything you are against and let Americans show you how they feel at the polls.

Are you responding to me, or "Another Point of View" My response is to their belief that Mayfield was justified in denying them a permit for a mosque.

I did look it up and it is at the discretion of the Liquor Commissioner whether to grant the liquor license or not. It is also the responsibility of the Mayor and Liquor Commissioner to research such places and he obviously did not. Maybe he had his legal counsel reseach it. LOL
