I bet you guys wish you had kept your mouths shut about scabs operating the plant in an unsafe manner after it was reported that Honeywell had been storing that hazardous mud illegally since what 2002?

How come no one blew the whistle when that started?

Wait, I know, you were getting paid then.

Actually, that was known about by the company and the union and reported to the government before I left there in 2007. It just took the feds this long to do anything about it.

Honeywell in metropolis is cutting their own noses off inspite of their face. The union is should be back there where the training and knowledge is at to maintain a safe work environment and safe surrounding communities. Why did the people NRC find out that the people in charge to deal with the NRC were coaching the replacement workers on the NRC safety exams and other issues. There needs to be a major overhaul of management and people who deal with the NRC. Like they should be fired for endangering the workers and community.

The union should have accepted the contract. You have got to be a union guy. You guys are grasping at straws. Every major violation happened while the union was in the plant but they don't want that to get out. The company writes the checks and the union cashes them or at least they used to. Thats how this works. The people writing the checks make the decisions and the ones cashing them can accept them or go work elsewhere or not at all, which is what they are doing now. At least they seem to be starting to cave and realize how silly they look and how much anguish they are causing for their family by slowly walking them to the poor house. Go ahead union guys, call me some names like you always do. If you guys were as good at negotiating or working as you are at trying so hard not to work or picketing, maybe you would be earning a real check by now.

Fact is a scab; why don't you take your ugly ass back to whatever hole you crawled out of. You don't know what your talking about, that is very evident in your ridiculous postings. Soon you'll be gone anyway. Hope you had a good run, cause it's almost over.

I don't work there....how many times do I have to tell you people that. You all just don't listen or use any common sense, that's why other people are making your money while you are walking around in front of the plant begging for donations and sympathy.

The only way the scabs will be gone soon is if you guys cave on your demands, which I hear is starting to happen. How will you walk around all high and mighty now out in town knowing that you caved to company demands after not working for over 9 months and saying you would never back down? Man, you guys just don't really understand how silly you look. Oh well, your unemployment will eventually run out just like your job has. Go ahead and cave, I won't tell anybody. You can still puff up and walk around like Billy bad ass all the while people are laughing at you when you walk past. That solidarity worked out great.$500 a week for 9 months then caving to the company like everybody knew you would eventually do. I guess the pressure is finally making the pipes burst!

Hey fact if Honeywell is so safe and wonderful why did they deny OSHA access to the plant for a safety inspection. By law they are suppose to have a union rep to go along with the inspector. But apparently Honeywell did not want OSHA to see the hazards and the untrained and coached employees. There needs to be a major change in management and the people who deal with the NRC. There is major accident waiting to happen at that plant and I feel sorry for workers and the surrounding communities. Time will tell, Honeywell just may close the place down because of the fines and incompentcy of the management and people who deal with the NRC. By the way I am not a union member. I am concerned with safety of the community.

I don't work there, can't you read? You will have to ask somebody that does that question as I don't know that answer. I don't know how incompetent management is, but for them to get to a management position, they must have been somewhat good at what they are doing. I don't care if they shut the whole place down. It won't affect me one iota.

By the way, where in any of my posts did I say "Honeywell is so safe". You should join the union as you are good at putting words in people's mouth's too. You have to be involved with the union spouting the crap about untrained and coached employees. It's your job or their job that is hurting, not mine so I really don't care. I think its funny how they acted all big and bad and how they are gonna strike and hurt the company and force them to give in to their demands. Well, 9 months later, how's that working out for ya! Not too good. On a positive note, I hear negotiations are finally going well. Good to see the union finally caving and at least acting like they finally want to work.

The smartest thing you said was you didn't know. There is no spouting of crap about coached employees. That is a fact. Who is caving? Just like you said, you don't know. For someone who doesn't care how this is going you sure do post alot. As far as the violations occurring while the union was still in the plant, you forgot to mention it was the union that brought the violations to the CEO's attention and he decided to ignore them.

hey fact, you don't have to be in the union to know what is going on with the coached employees and denying OSHA access without union representation. Read the reports from the NRC and OSHA that is part of the Freedom of information act. Just to let you know and I am not and never was part of a Union. I am just concerned about the safety of the employees their families and the community.

Typical union response. I don't care about this particular location, you are correct. I said it, thanks for repeating it. I talk to union members and get my info directly from them and I will continue to post my opinions. What I do care about is the fact that Unions across our country our systematically breaking our country and forcing good-paying jobs and company's overseas. You can't argue against that. The numbers are out there, there is litigation going on in a few states now trying to break the unions. It needs to and will happen, whether you, I, or anybody else likes it or not.

Next, if the union brought the violations to the CEO, which I highly doubt as he won't even talk to you guys now, so he probably wouldn't then either, why did they stop pushing when he didn't address them? If they were so concerned with public safety, why stop when you don't get your concerns addressed, especially if it is a safety issue that affects our entire town? I'll tell you exactly why and you aren't going to like it.....because you were working then and didn't have the agenda that you have now to get public support to make the big, bad, evil company look so bad. The same company that afforded you and your family some of the best lifestyles in our area. But apparently it wasn't good enough for the union. Public opinion is that you guys are just as greedy as the company. Let me say this loud and clear so you can't twist my words: I DON'T WORK FOR OR AT HONEYWELL, I SURE DON'T SUPPORT THEM, AND AFTER SEEING YOU GUYS ACT THE WAY YOU HAVE FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS, I DON'T SUPPORT YOUR UNION EITHER. You calling the company greedy is like the pot calling the kettle black. Real Talk!

Your words exactly, "I am not and never was part of a Union. I am just concerned about the safety of the employees their families and the community." Funny thing is you never mentioned being concerned about you or your family's health. You sure you aren't in this union?

Also, whether they were coached or not, and yes, I have heard that, is not the issue. The issue is there are 200+ people who made good money not working and living off unemployment. They want people to support them and help them when they wouldn't help themselves. I, for one, am done helping. I help more than enough with the amount of taxes I pay each year. The union got in this mess together, albeit the company was involved too, and they will have to support each other and get themselves out of it together. Quit asking me, my family, my friends, my neighbors, my business, my friends businesses, for support. We didn't ask for your support when we took the risk to start a business and neither did Honeywell. Help yourselves. If I were to give you my support, and I were to lose my business by running it into the ground by my own mistakes and selfishness like the union has done, would you come support my family? If your answer is yes, you are a liar. If your answer is no, now you know how most people in our town feel!

Doubt all you like, but I was in the lunchroom and saw a union member ask Dave Cote directly. It was the only time I remember seeing Dave Cote at our plant but he was and held a meeting with the employees. As far as why did the employees do what they were told, lets see how far one of your employees refusing to do what you say gets them. You will do exactly what Honeywell would have done. Fire them. So you don't support us, big deal. I prefer to not worry about the people like you and just be grateful to the ones that do support us. Its like you are obsessed with this subject. You are angrier than I am and you have a job.

That's a lame excuse. Haven't you ever heard of the Whistleblower Protection act or Erin Brockovich? This protects people who "blow the whistle" on their employer from retribution or punishment from the employer, when the employer has been breaking the law and covering it up. Get your head out of the sand! Typical union, when asked tough questions that you can't answer, you retreat. I'm glad I will never be in a foxhole with you. Such hypocrisy and cowardice!

Hey just wondering, here is a link about whistleblowing involving Honeywell from the union facebook page: http://www.labornotes.org/blogs/2011/03/union...

You didn't even know about this and you are in the union....wow, how clueless can you be. I am not angry at you. I would describe my feelings as sorrow for you because you haven't got a clue man. By the way, this link is from a pro labor union website, so it is probably a little biased. In the article it says the union repeatedly blew the whistle. Yeah right, if they repeatedly blew it, it was either one of two things. 1. They quit blowing too soon, as most do or 2. They didn't blow loud enough! Either way, it happened on your watch, they have been fined heftily, and you guys have no job. Doesn't seem like a good outcome for anybody, does it. Not to mention both sides were equally guilty in placing the community in harms way. See, I can back up my arguments with facts.

I can tell you how well the Whistleblower Protection Act works...not at all!
I know from personal experience and letters written to former Governor Blagojevich, Lisa Madigan and Dave Cote back in 2006.

Now that I'm able to again, I'm working on the head of the DOE, Mike Elk and IN THESE TIMES to see what can get done.

Boy, you just get all huffed up and start typing without thinking. Thank you for posting the link that verified everything I said though. Now you can obsess with this all you like and I may reply later. But I have a life to live at the moment and better things to do than troll this site. Have a great day.
