Hey Steve, I told you that if stay on here and have a comment on every thread, that people would turn on you, and now look. You just wasted the money spent on the paperwork to run for office. You may have meant well. Should have been a little more conservative in your comments. Don't drag Chuck down with you. I think he would be an asset to Metropolis.

For your information and also for the people that started this thread the reason why I do not have signs out for my campaign is because instead of campaigning I have been assisting flood victims here in Metropolis. An Alderman should be serving the people in times of crisis. I felt that my efforts would be better spent on helping out others. WOW! What a concept right? Helping those in need! I do work for a living and have never sponged off of the government ever! I live from paycheck to paycheck. I am a man of the people and am not made of money like most of our elected officials which would mean that i would care about the high utility bills and those who are struggling financially unlike some of the people in office. As far as dragging Chuck Short down with me, that is not possible. I agree Chuck Short does need to be elected to help break up the good ole boys club that currently governs our town. The person that started this thread obviously does not know me and for some reason feels that their words are going to hurt me and upset me. Get a clue. Whatever bashing comments people want to make is their right to do so, it's called freedom of speech. Whatever negative things they want to say does not matter to me. Whatever helps them feel better about themselves and sleep at night. I guess they were never taught at a young age that if they have nothing nice to say then it is better to say nothing at all. I feel sorry for those people who have to make themselves feel better by bashing others. As far as campaigning on here goes i have never once said vote for me but i have said get out and do something about how things are in this city by voting. My getting elected is secondary but if people heed my call to action and get up and make their voices heard by voting then something was accomplished.

By the way I did forward this to Steve and what i posted previously is his response for the forum since he is currently not able to get online due to personal reasons. He is a very strong, and kind-hearted man and could never hate all of you haters out there as that would go against him being a member of the NOH8 Campaign. He is very thick-skinned and it is very difficult to get under his skin. One of the reasons him and I get along so well is because of his upbringing he understands and supports the civil rights of minorities.

If I has a Bull Sh__ flag I would have to throw it now, People may not be as smart as you are but they are not stupid. In another posting you stated that you and KEEP EM HONEST are not one in the same, I knew it was a lie then and it is still a lie. I guess you are practicing your lies so if you win the election you will fit right in at City Hall.

Isn't the NOH8 a cry from the gay community for equal rights?“The California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, which defines marriage in the California constitution to exclude same-sex couples. It also ruled that the thousands of same-sex couples who married before Prop 8 passed are still legally married in California.” if so would one be wrong to assume that you and Steve are involved with one another or is it that you two just picked this campaign out of the sky and decided to help out this cause? Either way I Can not support Chaney if he is going to oppose the teachings of the Bible, God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Andy.

He wants the city insurance. Isn't it amazing that at least four of the candidates or already sitting aldermen come from BrickBat.

What, are you his campain manager now? And by the way, Chuck and Steve are not a team. In reallity, Chuck probably tries to distance himself from Steve. Chuck would make a fine alderman. He knows how the city works. Hell, he was the chief of police under Beth Clanahan until Beth was forced out by First Baptist Church. Chuck IS a good guy and not a yes man. I don't know why I'm saying this, he's not running in my precinct and I can't vote for him. But I DO wish he was my alderman though. I've just known him for a while and he is a no-nonsense type guy. Just like Beth is. Good honest people!... More wastful spending alert!!!! I found out today that the property that the dog pound is on could have been bought, at one time, for $1 and the city waited for Jeff May to buy it, then they bought it from Jeff. There is no telling how much more money that cost Metropolis. What the hell, it ain't thier money. Not saying anything bad about Jeff. Jeff is a real good guy. Honest as the day is long. And he didn't do this to screw Metropolis out of a bundle. It just fell in his lap, and I don't blame him for making a buck. Stupid ass Metropolis!!!

Ok I am now back on here since my computer issue has been taken care of and I have a lot to address on here. So here goes. Superfan1 thanks for posting my reply earlier to the start of this thread. He is not my campaign manager he is a friend of mine who is just amazed at how nasty and vindictive people are on here. ForTheBetter next time you see me walking around as you say why don't you identify yourself to me and we can discuss why you feel I am a douche bag. As far as a rebel flag goes I am not from the south I am from the north and was born and raised in a black community and went to a school that was 90% black so yes civil rights holds a dear place in my heart and some of my best friends are not white. I don't own a rebel flag and never will. Chuck Short and I are NOT running as a team. If you actually lived here and had a clue you would know that Chuck is going for the 4 yr term and I am going for the 2 year term. So get a clue two seperate terms two different people two different campaigns. I am Beginning to think that the people that are posting this trash on here that don't even know me are part of Kim Brown's camp. That is pretty obvious. It's kind of funny that someone started this thread shortly after the Ward 1 meet the candidates forum. Sounds like a person who had their feelings hurt that ward one had that and their ward has not. Krypton house is supposed to get back with me on having a forum for all candidates. As far as the insurance goes I do NOT want any part of it quite frankly. And if there is some legal way for me to decline it I will. All of the bullying on here is ridiculous and laughable at best. For all of you haters out there go talk trash about someone else who cares about your poison which spews from your mouth and will be affected by it because I care less. You all are just stooping to an unprecedented all time low. Oh yeah NOH8 has nothing to do with Proposition 8 BTW. Look it up online under NOH8 Campaign. May your souls be blessed and may you be provided comfort for your tortured, twisted souls and hate filled hearts. Be very careful as hatred will only consume you and drag you down into the pits of darkness.

OK I went on line and this is what I found;
On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the GLBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.
The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska ( http://www.bouska.net ) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with "NOH8" painted on one cheek in protest.
Two years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to over 8,000 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more.
The NOH8 Campaign has received overwhelming support from around the world, appearing on various local and national news programs and publications. The images are currently being used on various social networking sites to spread the message of equality, predominantly Facebook and Twitter. Eventually the images are expected to be compiled for a large-scale media campaign.

Cindy McCain endorses NOH8 gay marriage campaign
Failed presidential candidate John McCain opposes same-sex unions, but his wife and daughter think differently

John McCain's staunch opposition to gay marriage was one of the key parts of his presidential campaign. But it has become clear this was not supported in his own household. His daughter, Meghan, is a vocal advocate of gay rights. Now his wife, Cindy, has appeared in a poster campaign against California's proposition 8 – a law banning same-sex marriage.
The move has shocked and delighted gay rights campaigners and led to questions about the state of the McCains' own marriage.
Cindy McCain appears in the poster with silver duct tape across her mouth and the campaign slogan, "NOH8", marked on her cheek.
Unveiling the image on his website, Adam Bouska, the founder of the campaign, said: "In the year since we've started the NOH8 Campaign we've often been surprised at some of the different individuals who have approached us showing their support. Few, though, have surprised us more than Cindy McCain.
"Aligning yourself with the platform of gay marriage as a Republican still tends to be very stigmatic, but Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn't matter."
John McCain's office said in a statement that he respected the views of his family but remained opposed to gay marriage. "Senator McCain believes the sanctity of marriage is only defined as between one man and one woman," it said. In 2008 McCain backed a measure in his home state of Arizona to ban same-sex marriage.
Meghan McCain also appears in the poster campaign. "I couldn't be more proud of my mother for posing for the NOH8 campaign," she wrote on Twitter. "I think more Republicans need to start taking a stand for equality.
"I was there when she did it and I almost started crying during the photo shoot."
Bloggers are suggesting that Cindy McCain's move is a deliberate public dig at her husband. Writing on gossip site Gawker, Maureen O'Connor praised both Cindy McCain and Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of the 2008 Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards, for defying their husbands on gay marriage.
"Is it a coincidence that these two couples are also in the public eye over marital woes?" she wrote.
Pam Spaulding, who blogs on gay issues, was reminded of an infamous and foul-mouthed bust up between John and Cindy during a campaign in 1992. "Given the Senator's hot temper, and the fact that he called his wife a trollop and 'you c*nt'… this was a nice 'screw you' for picking that dimwit Palin and derailing the campaign," Spaulding wrote.(The asterisk is Pam Spaulding's, not ours.)
I renew my question are we wrong to assume that Keep em honest and superfan 1 may be in some type of relationship?
We have read your post where you praised the Illinois congress for passing laws that opened up the way for gay marriages in Illinois

You are correct I did praise IL for opening the way for gay marriages in the state. Granted the bible opposes gay marriages however I feel that those who are part of the LGBT Community have a right to same sex marriage if that is their choice in life. If they choose to have a same sex marriage then that is a decision they make and they will be judged by a much higher power than each of us. It is not for us to judge and certainly is not a crime. Judge not lest ye be judged I believe is the phrase. Who appointed us as jurors or judges? This is America The Land Of The Free and there is seperation of church and state and who are we the heterosexuals to say that homosexuals have no right to a civil union and should not be entitled to the same liberties as their straight counterparts? Who are we to force our morals upon them? What gives people the right to do that? It is wrong to hate them or discriminate against them for being gay and there needs to be more tolerance and acceptance. I say in this instance to each their own and they will face whatever fate awaits them in the afterlife. Each person chooses what they follow and believe in it is not for us to rehabilitate them and force them to change to be in compliance with the "acceptable" way that our society deems appropriate. I have never been in a gay relationship and never will be, however I have some gay friends and do not look down upon them. Some of them are better friends than my majority of straight friends. If people don't like my views on this oh well but I have no regrets expressing them nonetheless despite whatever hate rhetoric people wish to spew out of their mouths. I will stand up for my beliefs and no one can or ever will stop me or change me from doing so. It's all about equal rights people. Welcome to America. I also welcome peoples opposing views and certainly will not bash anyone for their own personal belief systems. Everyone believes in different things which is all part of diversity. Diversity is part of what makes this world great. Now I am sure the irrational and bashing comments will soon begin. I guess I am too controversial for people around here because I stand up for what I believe in not what others want me to believe in.
