why so young? my daughter went with his daughter at Washington Avenue and I ate at his first restaurant while at college in Portales in 1983. He made it all possible and his family touched mine. what a shame at the loss of a great man.

Four possible answers:

A) because he lived a life of excess eating junk food like a pig (that a food tastes good doesn't mean the food is actually food for you),

B) because God needed another angel in heaven (judging by the number of people who die young, God always needs a few new angels),

C) bad luck and/or bad genes, or

D. none of the above.

The Man was a Drunk !!! Has serious alcohol issues. Thats why so young. Alot of people took advantage of this. Reguardless, the man started a very stable company and has made a good name with it. Hopefully his family will keep it going and not drive it into the ground like many heirs are capable of !!!
just wondering

From the prices charged at his establishments, we sure don't have to worry about there not being enough money to cover his funeral expenses and then some! The place is way to pricy for the quality/amount received.

Spending 34 successful years in the restaurant business doesn't happen unless you've provided some consistant, top-notch, quality, service and value for your customers.

Sorry, didn't mean to take you away from the 2-4-6-8, Lenny's menu! Bon Apetit.

I worked for this man for two years at Santinos. He was always friendly to me. He always had kind words and always told me God bless you as I told him goodbye after waiting on him. We all have our problems but he was a kindhearted person in my opinion. I am saddened by his loss. Anyone can say what they want but this man provided jobs for many people for decades. May the lord bless your soul Mr. Wilson.

PS...JNNM...who owes you a free meal anyway?

I was waiter at Cattle Baron Portales while in college at ENMU around 1988-ish to Oct 1990. On my last day, Jeff Wilson ordered a big ole steak and lobster dinner and put it in the bread warmer drawer while me and the staff (college students) cleaned-up. After I stumbling upon his hidden dinner, I woofed down the steak, spit out the gristle and kept cleaning. His discovery of the pilfered dinner and gristle then prompted him to hold all the employees hostage in the bar while he tried to get the guity one to confess. I held fast during the whole affair despite tears from several of my female co-workers. I'll never forget how that steak seemed so much better than any I ever had.

The gentleman who claims he ate the dinner Mr.Wilson apparently had hidden in a "htbox" is lying,I was the one that devoured the tasty hidden morsels,I remember so fondly how he shook in his stance, not being able to speak to Mr.Wilson, almost in tears.Me and the girls laughed so hard on this poor boy,I cant believe he would write such a thing,Perhaps he finds solace in admittance, and no it was 1990 ish ..it was in fact summer of 1994 in Roswell.Bye the way it as a NY steak medium rare and a shrimp/lobster combo,Meno had prepared.....MMMM
