The voters need to be reminded that they choose their candidate very carefully. Remember that these people have but one "real" agenda, and that is to get re-elected or just elected.

They really do not care about what the constituents want as they have proven that time and time again in the past. If the voters choose a new candidate this time, and he or she also turns their back on the constituents, maybe it is time for the voters to begin recalls on these people right away, and stop stewing over leaving them in office while they fail to represent the people.

In other words, you voted them in, and if they do not honor your wishes, then remove them right away!

It is no suprise that the politics of personal destruction come's out when the "Progressives" (Democrats) campaign. Next thing you'll need to look out for are voter irregularities. They will steal an election in a heartbeat.

Stop with Republican Democrat BS! Get your heads out of the sand. There is no Dem or Rep there is just a bunch of clowns that are only concerned with getting elected to a position of power for their own gains.
Folks wake up its become us against them.

Gil Jones is and has always been a Democrat. The Sun News should report accuratly or in a non partisan race leave party affiliation out of it. I would prefer that.

If it is not a partisan election why is the Sun News looking up everyone's voter registrations? Since most reporters have their own biases, why not disclose the Sun News writer's voter registration too? In partisan elections this area is plagued by the imbalance of a ruling monopoly. I guess the best way to keep it that way is to slap the liberal/conservative labels on everyone's ideas and then hope the straight ticket voting nature of this population take its course. All very sad, there are a few independents around who only examine ideas not trite political labels or party affiliations.

The city clerk is still looking into violations by the developer's against las cruces PAC. First David Roewe denied involement in city elections and when asked about a fund raising letter by his PAC all he could do was swear and admit that he was raising money in the names of his canadidates. He is pushing the BIA in the wrong direction.

The Sun News got lots of money from the horrible Jobs for Las Cruces PAC ad. So everyone looks the other way - sad. We need good journalism and independent reporting.

The major trouble with so-called nonpartisan elections allow for 'stealth' candidates to hide their real agenda. That was the tactic developed and honed to perfection by Ralph Reed and the so-called Christian Coalition.

At lest the nonpartisan move was made years ago in Las Cruces & Albuquerque.

Around the country wealthy conservatives have been funding initiatives to make races nonpartisan and then funding the stealth candidates.

Hide the agenda. Set up Astor-turf 501(c)3's to run 'issue/educational ads and let a twin organization called a 501(c)(4)run attack ads. That has been the tactic in the latest example: King County (Seattle) WA which is having a major election on Tuesday as well.

With the Republican brand out of favor, and progressives sick of partisan insanity, we can expect this tactic to spring up across the country in areas with liberal majorities.

Why are party affiliations being mention when this is a "non-partisan" race?

The press is the one that creates "sensationalism" when it starts to label people.

We all know that Don Kurtz and the Progressive Voter Alliance are "greenie, extreme left democrats" who came from very liberal communities and started their B.S. in Las Cruces.

The progressive agenda is what got Obama elected along with the "cry for change." They only change we got is what little is left in our pockets!

Las Cruces, wake up! and take back you wonderful community from this liberal, greenies and their left-wing garbage. You cannot afford their agenda!

If you want green...get the hell out of the desert and go back to your "green pastures." Leave NM the hell alone! Make sure you either walk or ride your bicycles back, too! Also, don't forget your chickens!

Here is the PAC Letter - read it:

"I'm sorry you couldn't attend the Political Action Committee luncheon on August 17th at which we raised more than $20,000 for the upcoming election. This is a good start for our fundraising efforts...
Since the lunch Gil Sorg has announced he is running against Gil Jones and Olga Pedroza is running against Dolores Archuleta. Both Sorg and Pedroza have made it clear they are not business friendly and expect the cost of doing business in Las Cruces to escalate if they are elected. In the last race, Jim Harbison, a retired Army Lt. Colonel and Vietnam Vet has stepped up to run against Sharon Thomas. Thomas's voting record and activism speak for themselves about her stances on the most important issues in trying to improve this economy.
This will be a costly election, but much more costly if we don't get involved now and take a stand to elect pro business candidates into the city council.
If you have contributed, thank you. If you haven't, please fill out the enclosed card and send an investment in the future of your business..."

From this letter the money was intended for the local election. Las Cruces, wake up! and stop the big money from taking over our City Council for their benefit.
