We'd better start petitioning for them to enlarge HWY 70. All the additional traffic merging onto the HWY, especially during rush hour, is going to become extremely dangerous. It's already bad during rush hour now let alone with the addition of another WallyWorld and a Walgreens.
That's one thing that really get me about Las Cruces, the tiny roads do not handle the population we currently have, yet they just continue to approve more buildings without road improvements/infrastructure improvements.

I recall when the last significant set of Highway 70 improvements were implemented about twenty years, when the "new K-Mart" was about the only thing going on that part of town. A whole lot of residential and commercial growth has occurred on the East Mesa since then, along with the traffic, but nothing has been done with road improvement other than adding stop lights.

That shows a huge lack of long term planning for road improvement and planned growth. The fiasco with the Highway 70 detours (and resulting traffic jams) for that movie being filmed in October is a case in point. And I don't see any firm plans for Highway 70 improvements in the works, either. I'm sure the Lohman/Telshor project is the last significant amount of road work Las Cruces will see for at least ten years.

Oh well, welcome to New Mexico (with all the governmental foresight of Old Mexico).

Why can't Las Cruces bring in a good store. So many options out there and yet we get another slum store...

They can't even staff the 2 Walmart's that are now here in Las Cruces, what are they going to do with another one? They should focus on what they have and improve the stores!

You tell'em Jaynis. They probably work at Wallyworld and their chitlands too. Wallyworld may not be the best place to work, but at least it's a pay check and it beats flipping cow parts or washing someone elses dirty nasty dishes. As far as east mesa trailer trash is concerned, the ol saying "takes one to know one". No trailer trash in my section of the east mesa and i live east of Sonoma and west of Butterfield.

Obviously, you live out in that area if you see the "dipshits" hanging out at McDonalds while you order your Filet O'Fish and get your $1.00 Redbox movie. Why don't you write your real name instead of mr wally? I guarantee, if you are NOT an "east mesa trailer trasher", you live where you do cuz your mommy and daddy worked their butts off for you. My recommendation to you: Don't EVER, EVER go into a Walmart or McDonald, Mr. Moneybags. People like you make me sick. May your daughter get preggers from one of those dipshits and may they live in a trailer on the east mesa! haa haa! Of course I'm kidding, but I just wanted to give you a little taste of how s t o o p i d you are!
Have a nice evening!:)
What has really got you in an uproar? Is it that he called people trailer trash or saying they eat at McDonald's? Or could it be his name, Mr. Wally, reminds you of someone's pet name for his anatomy? Whatever set you off, you made plenty of errors. Ending a tirade the way you did is concerning. So do you work at the post office?

Heil Gramma Nazi! Yes I typed gramma because you are in no way a grammar Nazi. There's a reason why Germany was eventually divided into East and West.

Not only do they need to work on 70, but the interchange with I-25 and alternative arterials as well(Sonoma Ranch, Roadrunner, and some alternative east-west routes north of 70 - maybe Thurmond Rd?).

Also, why another WalMart? Why not add to the variety of what we have here, instead of adding to more low wage, local business choking retail outlets like WalMart? How about some grocery alternatives? East Mesa has a dearth of grocery options.

Walmart amounts to the selling-out of America. Don't shop there. Everything is imported. It's not patriotic in any way. Patriots buy American.

Yeah cause there will only be one walmart and one walgreens in all of Las Cruces so everyone will go up there to shop. You are a very negative person. There are so many walgreens in this town that the only people using the new one will be you and the others that live up there

All this griping and finger-pointing, but I guarantee you, the new Walmart will do well.

Yes, there are those of us who don't shop there often, but there are others who obtain the bulk of their goods--food, clothes, cleaning supplies, and holiday decorations--from Walmart. Let them be.

For me, I like my Walmart stock; even in the economic mess, they do relatively well. That is capitalism at its best.

Oh great just what we need another Walmart. Why don't they build a Macy's out there instead? That would be something NEW for this one-horse town.

There's not enough space for the growing gang community to hang out, so they HAVE to build another Walmart, you silly geese.

Last Christmas, I took my 89 year young Dad to Walmart, a place he just can't go by himself anymore. He looks about in awe of the size of everything.

As we walk thru the parking area and into the front doors, he points about and remarks to me......

"What made all these women so fat?".
"How did they get so big?"

I grinned in amazement and nodded in agreement.... replying.....

"dedication and no lack of effort", "they just gave up, Pop!".

And he goes..."gave up maybe, but they didn't pass up anything!"

People that spend so much time putting others down just don't feel good about themselves, period. Be proud of who you are and don't give them the satisfaction of letting anything get to you. BayAreaHydro, sometimes hard learned lessons will catch up to you so suddenly that when you find yourself hooked up to a morphine pump while you are fighting for your last breath, it can be one of us who you try to insult that watches you gasp your last insult. But you know something, we will just turn out the light and let you sit in the dark all alone. That is how life is and ends with someone like you so full of hate.

You're right about one thing, that most of these people putting others down for their ethnicity, their weight, etc. are miserable and try to make themselves feel better about themselves. Then some are just trying to act elite by suggesting they never shop in WalMart or Sam's Club like if it is beneath them. Dimes to donuts they shop WalMart plenty, they just haven't come out of the closet so to speak.
