Wont be long now. Crappy editing, lousy news coverage, political afiliation, super extreme intrusive advertising online, unable to deliver papers. Wont be long at all. And good riddance.

When I google the Las Cruces Sun News, I often do not see the letters to the editor or the local opinion columns for that day. A while back (one or two months) Michael Hays said he had to "persuade" them to place a Harbison column on line (presumably so he could comment on it). Perhaps my computer skills are lacking.

Spent a weekend in LC, after reading two days of the Sun News I was begging to see a high quality newspaper - so much so I looked long and hard but I did find the Albuquerque Journal - thank goodness.

This in not a newspaper. It is a mouthpiece for the Police Dept, and the City Council.
The Editor if you wish to call him that is worthless.
Better to read the Bulletin.

.
The Sound Off was in the paper's web site until a couple of years ago. It started to bring up real issues about the City Council and the Mayor,on many questionable subjects. People were discussing things like the Red Light Cameras, and the crooked company that ran it(Red Flex). See www.thenewspaper.com The comments were getting to many Citizens thinking and that was not good for the Council or Mayor. All of a sudden it was relegated into a remote spot that was hard to find.
Instead Facebook came in and the whistle blowers were affectively stopped. no more pesky questions to answer by the Council & Mayor. Because no Whistle Blower can give info when they can be hunted down for telling the truth on what is going on.
This paper is an afront to the First Amendment.

The El Paso Times should be next. All they do is try to help cover up all the crime and corruption in El Paso, but they are not even good at that.

Tabitha: My mom is angry with me for leaving my job at the brothel.
Ted: I'd thnk she'd be proud of you for that.
Tabitha: She was until I told her I was going to be a news reporter.

To the guys posting about the El Paso Times... You faggots obviously live in las cruces or Albuquerque. I read the El Paso times everyday and have for years as do thousands of other El Pasoan's. Crime in El Paso? How ignorant are you? 4 years in a row as the safest big city in America... Get a life you loser

Sound Off was getting to dangerous for the city government and was sent into a hard to find area of the paper. Basically the Sun News is "owned" by the powers that be,hence worthless as a news source. I agree with you on the papers worth.

It's almost funny how your reply kinda supports their argument.

First of all the post was the Times covers up crime. Your reply says El Paso is the safest city. So how does the Times make El Paso safe? Think about it and get back to me.

As for the Times. they wrote an article about an EPISD employee who was suspended, being involved in the cheating scandal at EPISD and then a year or two out from that article when it came time for the school board election, the Times backs him. The El Paso Times gives full support to a guy they practically trashed.

As for the safest city in America take a moment to consider where the information came from, the El Paso Times - haha - what's worse here's a line from an article outside of the times:

"CQ Press bestowed the honor on El Paso."

CQ Press? Who the hell is that? LMAO!

First of all it's sarcasm. I know who they are, but who are they to rank or even classify which city os safer than another. Because again take a moment to really think about it. How many crimes go unreported? Hell I personally have sought the police to act on crimes and they chose not to. I witnessed and helped break up a violent assault outside a nightclub and the police did nothing. 2 guys jumped by 10 or more guys who brutally beat these guys, taken to a hospital and the police did nothing. I know of a stalking case where a man repeatedly called a female saying he'd F*** her up and again the police did nothing.

oh wait the funny thing about that story is the police went to the guys house to ask him questions and told the victim, he's in Houston.

So you go right ahead with your phantom belief in this safe city crap. You'll realize how wrong you are when you either need the police or think the Times is faithfully going to print the truth to any event you're the victim of.

Yep crappy reporting like the overpass issue at Mesquite - they let the construction crew and planners off scott free by blaming delays on weather when they knew full well the issue was
with the pile driving. Incissive reporting I tell you
