Why is he smiling in that photo? He just pleaded or was about to plead to a 4th degree felony, unless, by pleading he got off with a lot more. We will never know.
Just sayin

He's looking for the wrong job if he thinks he can get hired in home healthcare. Everyone has to submit to criminal background checks, so he's sunk.

"Contributing to the delinquency of a minor"---just what delinquency and who is the delinquent?
Shame on the DA for placing any blame for these incidents on a student!

Curious......... think about it. They waived reading of ALL charges and he took a plea agreement. Didn't want it made public what he could have been charged with. Lesser of two evils for him.

He always was a smug arrogant piece of crap in my book, the reason he was smiling is he got off easy, 18 months probation, no fine for a 4th degree felony and the real reason he is smiling is, he does not have to register as a sex offender and pedofile. Nice job to Gary Mitchel, I wonder how he sleeps at night.

And once again our DA's taking the easy way out and letting someone off easy. When will it ever end?

Here is something troubling, a minister steals money 41 people responded. A teacher abuses a child, 7 people respond. Kids, the lesson here is stick your lunch money in his pocket and scream thief. The good christians might stand up and demand justice.

I worked for Danny Flores when he was a principal at Sierra Vista. A couple of the school nurses thought he was bi-polar - happy and professional one day and the next, snarling and unprofessional the next. He ran off many good teachers from that school. Complaints and concerns were made to the superintendent but that was as far as it ever went - who would want to deal with him if he found out you, as a teacher, had raised a concern. He got sadistic pleasure out of spanking children; I was a witness to that. He also put his hands on children inappropriately (though I never witnessed sexually). Ruidoso children are much safer now that he is not allowed to be with anyone under 18 years of age. And Ruidoso citizens need to report it if you see him with one - he has then broken his probation.

I have to agree, where is the outrage over a teacher being charged, after years of teaching children, with a sex offense. Pleading no contest and getting off with no more than a slap on the wrist. How many other children were harmed by this man, during his years of teaching. The old "this was the only time it ever happened," is a lie and a cop out for not wanting to press the matter. Well, I for one am glad my girls did not have him at any time they were in school. Oh wait they were girls....

Almost all cases in this county are plea bargained away and they never have to pay the full price for what they have done.

Exactly what sex offence was he charged with?
Another question.......

Ok, we need to at least get the charges right if we;re not going to get the facts. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is not a sex offense. Therefore, he was not charged with a sex offense.

It is if the da makes a deal with a slick lawyer to drop charges that would have made him an offender and cause a trail. He agreed to give up teaching and PLEAD gulity to a 4th degree felony. Oh he does not hve to register now either. Some one said it earlier, "how do they sleep at night?"

Yeah, but if one is truly innocent, why not plead not guilty?
"No contest" usually connotes GUILT and a plea deal.

Yeah I know, and pleading the 5th means you are guilty too. Not the way it was meant to be, but thats the way it is. Also, often it is a better scenario to take a deal than to fight for your innocence, because if convicted, a judge will often throw the book at you for proclaiming your innocence. It doesn't take any evidence to convict someone in this town, and 18 months probation sounds a lot better than 18 months in prison, even for a innocent man.

Why would someone who was a principal became a teacher in a backwoods town like this? Don't you usually go from teacher to principal? Any parent who lets any person spank their children is sick in the head and should be hung.

You know he was a teacher for more than 20 years before he became a principal, right?
