House fire in Ruidoso started by fireworks
This kid got a "talking to"
He's going to "visit the station"
We live in a forest and we're letting pyromaniacs walk the streets freely? He burned down a whole house and endangered many more.
So, who does this kid know?
Is it another of Harlan's nephews?

After the 'youtful' offender visits the fire station for a movie and popcorn, they should all take a trip to visit one of our fine Dollar Stores. That'll teach 'em...

When the kid visits the Ruidoso fire station, I am sure the guys in the men's club there will load him up with some parking lot pornography taken during the Little Bear Fire, courtesy of us fine tax payers and generously supported by village hall. If he is lucky, the photographs will be autographed by our HEAL HERO himself, the photo shoot director. Tell him to stand clear of the fire station fire pole and/or to wear rubber gloves and boots if he wants to slide down it.

No, this kid isn't going to get any preferential treatment-he'll likely get a juvenile record-but what about the ADULT who shot off fireworks in Eagle Creek last month? He knew what he was doing -lives here and should understand fire danger-it was more a matter of this is what he wanted to do on a windy Saturday morning-so what if he burns down the neighborhood? Narcissist? Entitled? Above the law? All of the above. These types of people need to be shamed into leaving the community....but in Ruidoso and Lincoln County-the wild. wild west, you can get away with murder(literally and figuratively). The law breakers are in control. Of course, there is still the hanging tree??????

The young man that ACCIDENTALLY lit the black cat fireworks in his bedroom is a very good boy who caused a tragic ACCIDENT that affected his life and family forever. He is a sweet boy who is an amazing athlete, makes good grades, and is a wonderful human being. I think that most 13 year olds make mistakes. Some are hidden, some don't affect others, some do, some are terrible. It was extremely lucky that the fire only burned their own home. We need to give some kudos to our fire department for their quick and efficient response to the situation. He didn't "know" anybody in a high place that erased what he did. Someone as wonderful as this young man does not deserve to be punished for the rest of his life for something that is already tearing him up inside. He is punishing himself enough already. Going to the fire department and learning about the dangers of fire, how to prevent fire, and other positive teachings from our fire department is sufficient
