This Rardin person sure is all about himself, isn't he? I this and I that, nothing about us or we. Makes me think all he cares about is how he looks or appears. No mention of how much this will cost the county.

How much are we the tax payers paying for this study? How much is Mr. Garrett making, how much are the "scientists" making? How much is Rardin making for managing it? I suspect that Mr. Garrett and his group will find whatever it is Mr. Rardin wants them to find.

How much will Mr. Garrett be making for this "study"? How much will the scientists working with him make? How much will Rardin make? Mr. Rardin is so anti-government that I do not understand why he is a part of the local government. Could be there are a lot of perks for him.
I am sure Mr. Garrett's study will find exactly what Mr. Rardin wants him to find.

I heard that Rardin owns a tree cutting business. I wonder if this has anything to do with him wanting to cut down the forest.

Cost? Much more then the county has! If this should happen, and it won't, and there is a big forest fire, who is going to fight it and who is going to pay for it? The fire a few weeks ago in Mayhill cost over 3 million dollars to fight. Does the county have that kind of money set aside?
Now the funny thing about this article is that this meeting was FULL of people. They moved more chairs in and still had people sitting on the floor and standing up. About 3 of them were there for the part about the forest. All of the others were there to hear justification on why the county is going the direction they are on predator control.
Why did they cut a $35,000.00 70 year long contract with USDA to do predator control in favor of a $100,000.00 +++ single county employee program? And then never bothered to tell anyone that they were doing it!
The "full house" showing at the meeting was almost all ranchers who are not in favor of what they are doing. So much for Rardin saying that this was what the ranchers wanted.
I thought Rardin was going to pop a vein when he kept saying that they had been talking about cutting USDA for 2 years both in grazing board and commission meetings and then the guy that does private predator control stood up with the minutes from all the meetings in the last 2 years and told him it was not mentioned at all. ROTFLOL
It was not mentioned in the meeting but I would love to know where the $100,000.00 for this program came from.
Would also like to know if they have done a complete check on the guy they have hired to do the job? From talking with people and looking on line how is he even going to be allowed to have a firearm in his possession until he is off probation for DWI?
Rardin, you are really good for a laugh sometimes!
And then the really big question. Why did th paper not report anything at all from this part of the meeting?

The newspaper's coverage is often baffling. Did any other commissioners comment or just nod cluelessly?

I don't care what law, statute, legislation, whatever Rardin claims as "New Mexico's Forests" --- they can't run a county - they sure in the heck can't manage 440,000 acres of forest!

He touchs any trees, rocks, etc., the people of this nation should go after him -- he is not above the federal law --- nor are his co-hearts in crime!

Get back to work for the people of this county and leave the federal lands alone.

I've never seen a group of county commissioners try and secure "money" through this kind of democratic process!

This place is known as a joke in SE NM --- change your image before it's tooooo laate, Ronny-boy!

Maybe he has some sort of deal in the works like the company to transport prisoners.
