Other than loving to see his name and picture in the media, what is Kelly Lowe doing giving this story out? In other words, what role did the Carlsbad PD play in any of this? The murder took place in San Patricio, the car was located in Roswell, and U.S. Marshals handled the prisoners, so where or what involvement did CPD have? Now before all of you haters and spewers jump on me please note I'm not dissing CPD or Carlsbad even, I'm just asking a question that the article doesn't answer. Anywhere else a press release like this would be issued by either the investigating agency - Lincoln S.O. in this case - or whoever made the arrests, which would be the Marshal's Service.

How are they supposed to charge these lil girls as adults? The fact that they were in foster care shows they were evaluated as children in need of ADULT supervision. Why were they in foster care? They should've been emancipated at 14 if they were believed to have adult mentalities. Throw them in the juvenile system until they are adults.

Huh,

Thank you for your readership and comment. To address your question, comments from Capt. Lowe are used and relevant to the story because the teens were captured in Carlsbad, and, as it says in the article, Capt. Lowe keeps in touch with the authorities in the jurisdiction where the crime took place. It behooves us to have a local officer provide information that he took the time to gain instead of relying solely on an Associated Press story. And, since part of the action did take place in Carlsbad, gives more cause for local police perspective. Again, thank you for your readership and story comment.

Re: "Kids"

These girls will be charged as adults because the juvenile justice system is not designed to handle cold blooded murderers. One of them was already on a year's probation for battery. These are young sociopaths ready to kill anyone who gets in their way, not particularly promising candidates for rehab after a few years in juvie. The prosecutor's job is to enforce the law and protect the public. If these girls are found guilty, then the judge can take their backgrounds into consideration at sentencing.

Wow given that situation I think the social workers are responsible for putting "cold blooded murderers" in the care of an old lady, given their background . I think the ladys family should file a lawsuit.

RE:Children- they are in the care of the foster system due to being under 18. If they had petitioned to be emancipated and proved they were financially capable of doing that, the judge would have granted them emancipation. Who will hire a 15 year old for more than minimum wage? No one, hence being under the care of an adult until they are 18.

Committing a crime such as this is a totally separate issue from the emancipation issue. Obviously these young girls have mental issues most likely stemming from their previous home life..

To "kids" - they weren't put in the care of an old lady - the victim was 53. She CARED for the elderly. As a matter of fact, this lady was the right age to be their mom. Even if she was old, the family can't file a lawsuit because she CHOSE to be a foster parent of these type of kids. Don't be so sue-happy.

There are a few people feeling sorry for the girls (or not) espicalliy the one from Roswell, (he proably knows one of them from there). Yeah nobody knows the real stroy but the girls and the foster mother, and shes not here to tell it. But what about the ones that found her, they saw what those horrible girls did to her (the foster mother). They are going to have to live with that sean for the rest of there lives, plus they loved her and were family. Those girls have the devil in them and they need to punished. I wish they could be punished in the same fashion they did the killing. Beat the crap out of them tie them up then smother them. Yeah we dont know the real story, but the family saw what they did and thats enough. I hope they get the worse punishment they got coming to them cause they dont deserve anything else. if they didnt want to be there why didnt they just run away, and leave that poor mother alone and alive. foster kids run away all the time they dont kill just so they can leave. Yeah the girls deserve the death penality to bad New mexico dont have it anymore. Why should we sopport them for the rest of there horrible lives, i could spend my tax dollars some where they are needed.
