In all actuallty The Mescalero Apache holds the highest employment in the Southern NM with the IMGR&C company. In this case Ruidoso and Alamogordo as their neightbors should re - consider and assist The Mescalero Apache Tribe with the ambulance services. The Mescalero Apache Tribe always employs the neighboring public and you hardly hear of their company IMGR&C turning away the neighboring public. Most of Alamogordo's and Ruidosos' public have secured employment at IMGR&C and treated with fairness.

The January 2009 call of a child being struck by a car had a 45 minute response time because when Ambulance Service out of Ruidoso was contacted to respond, The EMS director told the ambulance crew to disregard the call from Mescalero for medical assistance. The reason they were told to disregard? The call for advanced life support ambulance response did not come from AMR (the Alamogordo ambulance contracted for Mescalero). Therefore, because of PRC regulations, an injured child had to wait 45 minutes for ambulance response because having a request for a Ruidoso Ambulance come from an agency other than AMR was a violation of PRC. What's wrong with this picture?

Mescalero has no money to Contract with either Lincoln or Otero County. If they did, Lincoln County Ambulance would be the most logical choice. Indian Health Service can't fund a Contract. Otero County requires an astronomical sum to have an Ambulance stationed at Mescalero. There are no County funds to subsidize a ambulance Contract. Mescalero has a Fire Rescue Vehicle that could be PRC Certified to Transport. They transport now as a Fire Rescue Unit, but can't charge a fee for Service. The problem is that the Fire Rescue Staff need training to pass the State Licensure requirements for EMT-B, etc. If they could and the PRC Certified their Ambulance, end of story. ALS would be provided by either County. In reality, if a situation occurred, as with the child that was struck by a vehicle, neither County should wait for the red tape to clear-by law, they must respond. Otherwise, they should be held accountable as an entity or someone personally. To include having their certification revoked immediately with civil and criminal charges. It doesn't matter how many people the IMG employ's. Mescalero has no choice but to hire from both Counties or Statewide, they need employees, otherwise their businesses will go under. Any suggestions?
