I would say all of the 5 applicants that signed up for the job, should be interviewed by the whole committee, not just George's Committee!

But then, when George's candidate screws up a response it would then become VERY apparent how inept THEY ALL are!
This is another method being used by George's team to keep the "inside job", intact. No one will be amazed at how well they will put the Santoro insider "appointment", together.

20 inquiries and 5 apps. Sounds like a nation-wide search to me!!!!! Where are all the people who chastized Mr. Bahou about his support for a person who did not even apply!!! Freddie go get them. This whole search has been a bag job from the beginning. Those other smart 15 people saw what was happening and refused to be a part of it.It should be re-advertized and the selection committee should be changed to reflect all the parties involved. This whole process is being co-ordinated by LAME_DUCK Cash--In.

Mary Jo's sister works at the Tech as well as her niece. Let's say goodbye to nepotism for good. I'm tired of everyone's relatives working/getting jobs at the same place.

The GLTHS needs to have an audit done on personnel policies and procedures that should include who is related to whom and provide a listing of all staff members, position titles and salary. And the search for a new superintendent should be re-opened and widely publicized. Five applicants is an insufficient candidate pool to chose from.

Someone is not paying attention. Santoro is not getting the job. It is going to Dean Connell. The calls are being made as we speak. The political machine of the mayor as well as the connections of her partner, Dean Fallon, will provide her with the power to get the 5 votes for the job. She might as well get the job cause she sucks at being a dean...just ask my son's friends

It will go to Santoro because she has the best interest of the committee and her "girls club" as her first priority, not the best interest of the students/school first. She's been mentored by Cash-In to always use that approach and you'll always own the committee. It obviously worked for Cash-in afterall because he is Cashing IN HUGE!

Good for the GLTHS for conducting a search for the important job of superintendent. Superintendent's should be hired based on qualifications - nothing else - it's a matter of the public trust. The Tyngsboro SC should take a lesson from GLTHS - because the Tyngsboro SC will most likely emerge from an Executive Session to tell citizens who they will APPOINT as their new superintendent. Will it be 4-3 to appoint or 4-3 to search....stay tuned!

So, one applicant (was it Mary Jo Santoro) said no to a public hearing and now it’s a closed meeting. Am I the only one that finds something wrong about that quote from George O’ Hare. Let me tell you the solution to this problem, it’s to not hire Mary Jo Santoro as the next Superintendant; this would just be a lot of the same tactics and less thinking outside of the box. You need a person in that Superintendant position who can manage and Mary Jo Santoro is not it! This would be another political appointment by the Greater Lowell Tech School Committee and the wrong person for the job. Mary Jo Santoro the Principal is the major supporter of Robert Hobbs the un-qualified Technology Chairperson at Greater Lowell. Mary Jo has defender her decision to hire Robert Hobbs without qualifications because it was a mistake in the first place. Even thought Mary Jo has been in her position for the past seven years, she has trouble understanding, and applying the state’s education policies, procedures, and laws. Because of her poor performance and poor management style she single handily causes turmoil within the teaching staff. The students in the school don’t even know she the principal because of her low-key profile within the school. The students think Tim Fallon; one of the Dean’s at the school is the principal. Because of her lack of classroom experience she does not understand the demand of a classroom of twenty or more student. She does not understand the demand on the teachers to keep the students engaged and controlled. Mary Jo’s past interaction with students were with a sped class the size of five or less. Because of her lack of knowledge with class management; Mary Jo has imposed or forced student behavior policies on the Greater Lowell teaching staff without training or input from the Deans or Teaching Staff. The result was a repeal of her behavior policy. In the past seven years Mary Jo has hired her sister, niece, cousin, and friends to positions at Greater Lowell which is a violation of Chapter 74 of the State’s Education Laws; she’s no better than the School Committee Members George O’Hare, Tully, Mike Leniz and Ex-member Mike Hayden who ALL have family members hired during their time on the Committee again violation Chapter 74 of the State’s Education Laws and they ALL support Mary Jo Santoro for Superintendant. It’s time for taxpayers to start calling the school committee DEMANDING change! It might even be better for the taxpayers if Mary Jo Santoro would just think about retirement.

Sorry, I refered to the wrong chapter . this is it:

TITLE XII. EDUCATION
CHAPTER 71. PUBLIC SCHOOLS
SCHOOL COMMITTEES
Chapter 71: Section 67. Superintendents of schools; penalty for accepting fees for obtaining positions; employment of immediate family of certain persons prohibited

Section 67. A superintendent of schools who accepts any commission, fee, compensation, or reward of any kind for obtaining for any person a position as teacher in the public schools shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty nor more than five hundred dollars.

A school district shall neither (i) employ a member of the immediate family of a superintendent, central office administrator, or school committee member, nor (ii) assign a member of the immediate family of the principal as an employee at the principal’s school, unless written notice is given to the school committee of the proposal to employ or assign such person at least two weeks in advance of such person’s employment or assignment. As used in this section,“immediate family” shall have the meaning assigned by subsection (e) of section one of chapter two hundred and sixty-eight A.

Ohare needs to go, your most recent citation is correct, I found it on the MASS.GOV website.
For the record, Chapter 268A: Section 1.(e) defines “Immediate family” as the employee and his spouse, and their parents, children, brothers and sisters.
There really needs to be an audit done on GLTHS personnel policies and procedures that should include who is related to whom and provide a listing of all staff members, position titles and salary.
