If Elliott is not criminally charged at the least she should be removed from office. She should be forced to reveal the source of the rumor and if, in fact, such a person exists she too should be charged also. In my 82 years I have seen a lot of sleazy politics played out, but this one takes the golden chamber pot!

She believed what she said at the time, because she WANTED to believe it.

It just goes to show you how afraid people are, and what fear and ignorance can do to people. Makes no sense at all.

Elliot lied yet again in her explanation. In her diatribe she stated she had learned "yesterday" that the incident took place, yet in her explanation she says she learned "just prior" to making the speech and didn't have time to verify it.

Typical lying religionist. Lie, cheat, steal, anything is justified to further their agenda.

this is politics to the nth degree. these haters will do ANYTHING (including lying)to stop us from being treated as equal americans. i too thought it was fear at first and i do believe these people are fearful of us. but now i think it's politics. our political process is broken and so is capitalism. republicans are terrified right now and we are collateral damage. back to school...they don't teach anal sex for heterosexuals, they surely wouldn't skip that to teach from the gay perspective. why are such stupid people running our country and making laws? laws that are based on their myopic vision? guess those scared people would rather have the world crumble around them then extend us equal rights. this isn' the only stupid one either. we have michelle bachman, sarah palin, etc. should she be fired? absolutely. don't expect it though. evidently, when it comes to us queers, it's ok to lie, hate and kill to keep us under cover. let's keep crawling out and ruin their day.

When you figure that the whole anti-gay stance is based on lies and ignorance, this should not be surprising. Yet we are still taken aback in the blatant disregard for human dignity. It makes me so sad.

Her retraction does not specify the statement she is retracting. When her retraction is placed in the public record, nobody will be able to tell what in the heck it was that she retracted.

Here is the full text of Nancy ElliottÂ’s statement Tuesday:

"During the executive session on House Bill 1590, I made a statement concerning the curriculum in the Nashua school system which I believed to be true.

Upon inquires from the speaker, I repeated the statement.

This statement made in the Judiciary Committee had caused some controversy so I went back to my source for the statement to verify the information that I had received. I found that I could not confirm the accuracy of the information.

I am compelled by the fact that the statement cannot be verified that I withdraw the statement I made in committee last Tuesday regarding the Nashua schools.

I was told shortly before the hearing on HB 1590 that what I later said had happened and I firmly believed it to be so.

It is for that reason and because of its relevance that I brought it up to the committee.

I would have never said anything in the performance of my duties as a state representative that I did not believe was true or relevant.

I am presenting this letter at the first committee meeting of Judiciary since last Tuesday. I do so at the earliest opportunity in order to make clear I am withdrawing what I said regarding the Nashua schools.

I would like to apologize to Judiciary Committee, the Nashua public schools and its employees and the speaker as well as anyone else affected by what I said.

I will try much harder in the future to verify fully my statement.

Mr. Chairman I would appreciate your putting this statement into the file on HB 1590 so that someone looking at the file would understand my statement was inaccurate."

What a cunning shrew!

This goes to prove just how perverted and ignorant some people can get. It says a lot about the idiots that vote for such perverted ignorance.

She's no Michelle Bachmann.

Bachmann would never bother to issue a non retraction retraction when caught in one of her loony lies.

I knew Dan Quayle. Dan Quayle was a friend of mine. Nancy Elliott, you're no Dan Quayle.
