This trail is a waste of taxpayer money and court room time. There are no witnesses to the crime, no evidence linking the accused to the crime, and the police, in a gross act of negligence (or on purpose, maybe) tampered with and destroyed evidence. The whole trail is predicated on a warrant that was NOT signed for four days after the search (this is the reason why ALL Madison County judges have recused themselves). Also the warrant was issued for a stand alone garage and all buildings on the premises were searched. Evidence mysteriously appeared on the property after 22 officers had searched the property. It's as though the police decided Mr. Danner was guilty then pursued the case, evidence to the contrary be darned. The citizens of Madison county deserve better then this. Who knows who killed Mr. Jones? It was not Mr. Danner, but due to the malicious ineptness of the police in this case we may never know, and some one may have gotten away with murder. Way to go Patterson!

The trial was a waste of time because ,with all of the evidence found that point to no one but Danner he should have allready been put away out of societys way and off of our TAXDOLLARS feeding such a lowlife coward

Wonder if anyone of the people who defend Danner a convicted drug dealer and violent person would feel if he were to move into their community where they were trying to raise their children?

The evidence in the trial did not point to Danner. In fact, the police admitted to mishandling it and destroying it at the trial. The only "eyewitness" for the prosecution was rebutted by an expert for the defense and failed to show up for cross examination by the defense. No weapons that were allegedly found at Danner's place (actually they were found at his cousins place) were ever proved to be Danners or were linked to the crime. That the person killed was a known informant and drug dealer should make no difference in that the police should go after the killer not an easy target like Danner. While it is a fact that Danner has a soiled past, he did his time for the crime. The only reason he was charged for this at this time is because the federal conviction (the drugs referred to buy New Market Buyer and Angry Taxpayer) was going to be thrown out on appeal. As far as Danner being a coward, I doubt Concerned Citizen would say that to Danners face with nothing separating them except thin air. Yes, he could live in my neighborhood. So forget about character assassination and idle threats. In this America one is innocent until proven guilty. In this trial it was 10 for innocence and 2 for guilty which resulted in a hung jury. Next time It will be 12 votes for the truth which is some one else, not Kim Danner, murdered Mr. Mike "Mickey" Jones. The police have no motive, no witness, and no credible evidence that Danner did this. Jones’s relatives should be asking the police why they bungled the case and who really murdered Mickey Jones.

I really hate to hear that Danner got away with murder today. The community here in New Market are and have been scared to death of him for many years.
As I understand it, Danner is currently in Federal prison on weapons & drug charges. I think Danner was in Federal prison back years ago, so this is his second trip. I know this fact doesn't necessarily make Danner guilty of capital murder but usually where there's smoke, there's fire.
I feel sorry for both sides of the family involved with this case. I will pray for healing for them and hope that they can move forward.
As for a second trial, I just hope that justice is served this time around. Mickey Jone's mother needs justice. Justice will prevail...
We are blessed to have area law enforcement as well as the Madison County DA's Office to be there for the citizens of Madison County.
Thank GOD we have these people fighting for us and who are not afraid of Kim Danner...
If in fact the count was 10-2 for not guilty, A huge thank you goes out to the two remaining jurors who stood their ground and realized what the actual truth was. Without you Danner would not be prosecuted a second time around.

Thank you TnVolFan for your comment. I am glad there are people who are willing to speak up for God and for this county/country. So many people in today's society are so concerned about money that they forget about the true things in life.

As a friend of the family, I don't appreciate the comments said. However, everyone is able to have an opinion and can speak freely of it. The comment about mr. danner moving to their community is absolutely true. Very scary knowing that people would let a criminal back out on the streets.

God's justice will be done, whether it be now and in Heaven. Be careful for what you say, you never know when your dad/brother/son/friend may end up dead in a truck without you ever getting to say goodbye.

It is a true pleasure in knowing that Madison County has some of the finest citizens to serve on a jury who can actually see through the “smoke” and clearly see how Investigator Brent Patterson operates. If something were to happen to you in Madison County your family may never know what the real truth is. As to my understanding of this situation a man was assassinated in some rural area that could only be performed by some sort of professional. When you can see through that smoke it makes a lot more sense why Brent Patterson destroyed all of the evidence in this case and lies to the victim’s family and his own department to try and cover it up. It is such an embarrassment to even know that a homicide was treated in such a manner. This is a frame job if I have ever seen one. Why would Madison County want Mr. Jones out of their way? Was this informant just used and disposed of by the department and then conveniently a man is picked up hours afterwards based on zero evidence just Brent Patterson and a hunch? Was Jones about to expose the department for doing some very unethical things? My heart goes out to both families and I wish they find peace and the truth and both should sue Madison County for what they have done in this unfortunate situation. It is a disgrace knowing that we have to try such a case in which the department purposely destroyed the evidence and is spending the taxpayers’ dollars on this. Could anyone tell me how much it costs the state to try a capital murder case? I have heard it is in the 100’s of thousands. I think both parties should file civil suit against the investigators involved and the Madison County Sheriff for allowing such a cover-up and make them pay for the cost for the state to re-try this case.

mr danner was convicted of guns and drugs which he is serving his sentence but that dont make him a killer all of the overwhelming evidence they had must not have been that good or they would have a conviction the jury done their job and if they try the case again it will turn out the same looks like that most mistakes made in the case is from barny fife patterson cases are won and lost on evidence and 12 people have to wade through all of it make the right call

Capital Murder is the MOST serious of all charges and when a panel of 12 cannot convict and the ratio is 10-2 for not guilty... WAKE UP people/ concerned citizens/ and angry taxpayers this man is not guilty!!! You people amaze me how you use GOD like a bat to beat this man with. I have lived in this community for 67 years and I know BOTH families as alot of you do!!!(THINK ABOUT THAT) If you feel the need to bash and batter this man leave GOD out of it..

To the comment of TNVOLFAN, I live in the community and im not sure what you mean by being scared to death for years of Mr.Danner. why are you scared? The so called eyewitness testified the person they saw was a man in their 30s, with brown hair, according to the picture that is posted of Mr. Danner, he's a nice looking man but I don't beleive he appears to be in his 30's and not alot of hair to be able to tell that its brown. This is a tragedy for the victims family but also a tragedy for Mr. Danners family to obviously try to convict an innocent man. I tell you whats really scary is out there somewhere is a cold blooded murderer. If Mr. Danner was guilty I feel confident that the jury would had introduced that verdict. Its a shame both families have to repeat the process all over again

Guess it might be hard to tell a mans age and amount of hair if you were concerned about getting shot by a stray bullet coming from a speeding vechile spraying bullets everywhere.Sure do thank those 2 people who stood up for justice and represented the common feeling of most sensable people in this area.As far as him looking older to the above post guess its a little harder where he has been since the shooting ;but maybe he can get real used to it after the next trial. This man has always been violent all the way back to high school where he hit a student in the head with a piece of pipe remember this people? It is sad when 1 person thinks he can and has bullied people all his life is above the law and caused so much sorrow to all parties involved.Just maybe if there is more people to step forth and tell the truth justice will be carried out and healing can begin for all involved and the surrounding area.

Maybe “if” you could ever get people to “tell the truth” you wouldn’t believe the lies put in your face on this case. Mr. Danner is one of the most sincere people that we have had in this community, helping many of us elderly in need. Mr. Danner has never been a violent person and to those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him, you would adore his kindness. I am disgraced by this community and some of the ignorant responses on this matter. I live in this community and Mr. Danner is a wonderful grandfather himself. As for the other fellow, the victim I am not very familiar with him but I am concerned about his connection with the law because something is really fishy with it, that man was out here in this community with the law shortly before and the next thing you know he is dead? Furthermore, I know I am considerably senior to most but I have enough common sense to know that you can not speed through this community spraying bullets at an individual while driving an automobile. There is something major and wrong with the sheriffs’ department and this entire investigation. I would urge the victim’s family to do their own investigation in this matter, if need be call in the FBI or another agency because others in this community have been threatened by law enforcement when they came forward with information about other leads in this case. I wish both families the best.

If you were really concerned you might would take interest and want to know who really did this act. From what we know now there is not any evidence which I find interestingly odd. Our tax dollars supported and still do the investigators who are hiding the real truth and possibly the real killer or killers.

not taking sides, im sorry for both families. yes danner did do time for drugs and weapons charges. but noone has seemed to tell that jones has also done time in the federal prison system for drug and weapons charges. to tell the truth there is really no telling who could have done this crime. people shouldnt judge when they do not know all the facts.

I agree, I can see the same thing coming in the future on this. What a shame.
