Who is Wade Demers?

Somebody went to a lot of trouble to start more than a half dozen posts about Demers then it all disappeared.

Oh, I went to the website. He looks like an absolute crook if nothing else.

I lived and worked in Meridian from 1973 to 1984 and my kids still live there. With the posting of at least 6 forums and then not much follow up, I was simply wondering.

I have met Wade Demmers on a number of occasions and other than being a pain in the butt I've observed nothing to vindicate the unjust, holier than thou, who get solace from his abuse.
Suppose Wade differs from me in his way of thinking. Does that allow me justification to consider myself, in any way, better than he ?
Those who look down on Mr. Demmers need to investigate he whom they shave in the morning.

I assume we are talking about the same person, Wade Demers (not Demmers). Since I do not know the extent of your interaction with Mr. Demers, other than your statement that you have "met him on a number of occasions", it is difficult for me to understand the depth of your personal knowledge concerning his habits, methods, and social traits. To those of us who live in the same town and have to put up with his confrontational and hostile manners he his nothing short of a major disruption at many public events. Many times he has tried to force his way on to a public stage when he his not on the event and this has resulted in the police being called. This very thing happened at the "Three Foot Festival" just last April. The simple truth of the matter is that he is a pathological liar and a serious sociopath who may ultimately prove to be dangerous, and the same can be said for his "assistant" Lucy.

Sorry, I don't consider myself qualified to judge Mr. Demers characteristics as a pathological liar and a serious sociopath. I better leave that alone.
As I said, I have met Demers on more than one occasion and don't share any particular fondness for those experiences.
I, by my own choice, do not share time or Jack Daniels with Wade Demers, but I don't consider myself worthy to judge his character or that of his critics. I just don't think myself to be that good a person.

Note that Mississippian says that he or she left Meridian in 1984. It's interesting because the Demerses didn't get to Meridian until 10 years later, when they left Rhode Island and went to Meridian, Mississippi in 1994.

You misunderstand my meaning. I do mot hate Wade Demers. I am just repeating what he has said and done himself and what has been witnessed by MANY people. For instance the incident at the Three Foot Festival (last April) where he tried to take over the microphone for the story telling event. He was not listed on the program and he did not have permission from the Festival Director to take the stage and make a statement. The police had to be called to get him under control. This was seen by HUNDREDS of people and it was obvious to everyone what was going on. He delights in making a fool of himself so long as he gets to be the center of attention. This is just the kind of thing Wade does and it is nothing new. He has been doing just this very kind of thing for 25 years! If you don't believe it do a search of the Boston Globe under his name, see what turns up.

I have observed this manical cult figure since his arrival and have often pondered why he has not been institutionalized. I have heard stories of his romancing vunerable people into his cult and seperating them from their finances, all under the cloak of his "religion". He is nothing more than a cult leader with serious psycological problems, calling himself a prophet. And that big tall woman is just as delusional as he is. They are nothing more than yankee cons who those in power have allowed to rant. Maybe one day they will find another city in another state to spread their cult venom.

I've been out of the country for a few years and only get back a couple of times a year. When did this dude show up?
