Sorry for getting hot. I'm not a hater or a racist. I might be a bigot. Mostly I'm just frustrated at everything that's happened to my state and country as a result of modern liberals and neoconservatives. Give me a paleoconservative any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Peace.

What happened to america? WHY MERIDIAN IS DYING or
HOW TO KILL A CITY
(Originally presented to the Meridian City Council on 4/21/09)
Meridian, Mississippi has gone from a population of 48,000 (in the 60’s) to about 38,000 recently…
Our children and others are leaving…why?
A small group of greedy, self-centered, materialistic, vicious, wealthy, and socially and politically powerful individuals are holding this town back from its natural growth and development. They are manipulating the system, controlling the government and law enforcement, sustaining the criminals, and in some cases enriching themselves and others, preserving their idea of “we’ve always done it this way.”
These people are spurred on and controlled by a spineless and spiritually bankrupt clergy who refuse to speak out to these people in order to preserve their own tithes, offerings, and endowments.
In summary, the insiders,“money people,” and clergy work in concert to preserve/enhance their own lifestyles and feather their own beds, to the detriment of the majority, and in doing so, stymie any substantial changes, thus creating and sustaining the environment that our children abandon.
Our young people sense the resulting stifling milieu, and move on to places where their potential can be realized.
Remember, when good people are silent, evil rules.
These are the tactics the “bad guys” have used to silence those who, if they spoke out, could do something. They use slander, fear and violence to keep everybody silent and to discredit anyone who tries to tell the truth, and they give rewards and promotions to any one of the insiders who is getting “antsy.” They accuse a whistle-blower of division or ill motives, when in reality the whistleblower is risking his life to expose the corruption. This is a heinous technique. Evil has always been used to preserve itself.
So, who’s to blame?
Who cares? If the population decreases, then so does the tax revenues and so does the donations to churches. If the town officials and other figures are so corrupt and greedy, let the town shrink to 28,000 and see how they like not having any tax revenues at all.

Mainly, what's happened here in the United States, is that the people who live there forgot that they live in the United States, not some country with a slang name like "america".

You wan't free healthcare? Here ya go, brush your damn teeth, excercise if you're fat or winded easily, eat home cooked meals instead of fast food, don't drink to excess, don't smoke, don't go around trying to get killed while partaking in risky personal endeavors like skate boarding, riding a motorcycle without a helmet or base jumping, floss your teeth, wear a seat belt, own a car with modern safety devices, KNOW how do do things correctly such as driving or working around power tools and ladders, follow basic safety guidelines and best practices, read operator's manuals thouroughly and follow the information contained inside them, don't drink alcohol to exess and drive, follow traffic laws and motorist's handbook, don't entice strangers or aquaintences into murdering you by being an obnoxious ass, etc, etc, etc.

There, I CARED FOR YOUR HEALTH and it didn't even cost you or me a damn dime.

high crime
Your federal tax dollars pay to operate the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Statistics, which uses National Incident Based Reporting System and the Uniform Crime Reporting systems that obtain crime data from local police and federal agencies for the purpose of compiling data on crime. That said, the US DOJ BUJ, begs to differ with you on HIGH CRIME. The fact is, crime is lower than ever. If you don't believe me, review the data at BUJ website yourself. Crime has gradually been decreasing since the 1990s, with the last few years seeing marked decreases and this is in spite of the fact that the number of criminal laws on the books of the states and federal government have quadrupled over the last 30 or 40 years.

You are part of the problem not the solution. Marxism ONLY represents facist state atheism coupled with codependent failure and that is always the result. Even the Chinese learned not to rely on it anymore (after losing 70,000,000 Chinese to its democide within mere decades).

You should really upgrade to democratic socialism... enter the 21st century. Then at least if I ever decide to piss on you, it won't be on your face... just on your shoes rofl.

Interesting comments. I'm looking at homes in your area (retirement). From my perspective , Your city has a lot going for it. I'll be visiting soon. You have a great location, continuing education and good hearted people. If you don't like your schools start a petition drive and pursue some referendums. I don,t think a California culture is is going to be very helpful . You have everything you need .
I have lived all over the country and can't wait to get out of here. When my husband finishes with cancer treatment we will move on. You will regret moving here. It is the most hypocritical and crooked place I have ever been. Heed the warning and start looking at what you won't see right off the bat. Hold on to your money and watch your back when it comes to those good people you were talking about! You will be called an outsider right off the bat and you will never be excepted in there little group. Your neighbors will be suspicious of you and they will spend there time gossiping about you. I could tell you allot more but some people have to learn for them selves. Good Luck to you! By the way, i would take California any day of the week next to Meridian!

I agree with the racial barrier, however the African American Community is a big part of that as well. I have encountered it many times already and I have only lived here a few months and I am not even white (I am polish and Puerto Rican with light skin) I have a kill them with kindness attitude towards things, but I see it everyday. Old money white folks still try to follow the rules of the old days and both sides sicken me. But don't put it ALL on the white families when African American families are just at fault.
Meridians big problem is lack of things to do. Nothing for the kids. I have three kids and it is hard to keep them entertained. Stores are leaving and some of the restaurant chains are horrible here. The key to keeping the young folks is having things for them to do. A skating rink is not the best thing. Meridian is supposed to be the "big City" for the surrounding areas, but I just laugh because people are still driving to AL and Jackson to do things because there is NOTHING here. Sad but true. THe fair is a joke too. The other problem is, if you aren't a local family born and raised here...you can forget about fitting in. The families here are not very welcoming and that is a very sad issue. You want more families coming here, then welcome them. I have lived all over the world and this is the most unwelcoming place I Have EVER lived (and I even lived in California-lol) Drinking and drugs are high because the kids believe there isn't anything else to do but get high and drink. Sad, but true. Give the kids somewhat of an outlet and you will see a change. It will take time, but it starts with the kids.
I agree with you on all counts! I have lived here a few years and can't wait to get out! This is not a good place to live by any count! If you have any issues that come up you will find that these people are crooks. If you have not bought a house, I hope you will consider leaving. You will find out allot more the longer you live here. You won't like what you Learn!

Then learn Spanish so you can hear what they say behind your back here and prepare to become a Viking because if you are white here and you aren't a Viking, you're going to end up a victim if you don't have enough money to live in a suburb or upscale fenced in and patrolled community.

I am not spanish but can speak the language. I lived in Chico California and Santa Maria California. Mississippi is an uneducated population where many of the adults can't read or write. There are religious groups that control the area so much that if you think you might want a beer after work you better find yourself a dry county! They set up road blocks all over the state! This is very much a police state! My guess is half the population has been behind bars. Your banking information as well as your medical information is not safe as these people are all related to one another. Possible in-breads. I happen to live on a block of 3 houses and they are all related to one another. I have had both medical and banking information compromised since living here. They don't give a dam about there people and this state is very much controlled by a few at the top of the ladder. If you are an outsider and want to start up a business, you better leave the state. Because it will never happen! These people don't want the competition unless you are one of there own. You have nothing but crooks, from business to your neighbors. If you have a pet, Take it with you or keep it in doors. They have a way of disappearing or a stick might jump out and beat them to death. Your kids will learn below standards so that they can't fill out a job application. Your neighbors will come to visit you and seem so nice, until you find out from another individual that you have had rumors spread about you. Meridian wonders why people have left the community. I say to all of Mississippi, get real, you already know why people leave here. It certainly isn't because of southern hospitality. If you want your kids uneducated, want to be poor, want to be called an outsider and treated like one, want to be victimized by a corrupt system then Mississippi is for you. Bueno's Dias Senior. Meaning, have a good day! P.S.- If you are someone that moves to Mississippi and your not one of there's, you are already a victim!

finally the truth comes out, I worked with an american company delivering goods to and from canada, I talked with many people all over canada and by far they were more than pleased with their life styles, i asked several canadians if they wanted to trade places with me in the usa, here are a few of the replies i got....trade places with a county that killed babies in vietnam-no way!, go to the usa and pay unreal rent-no way! go there and need surgery and have no universal care and die-no way! over and over the answer was no way would i leave canada for america and their murder rate, crime rate, death rate, poor job oppotunties, etc; now all of you capitalistic americans have your answer your system sux badly.
Mike, I lived in Canada about 10 years ago. Here is the scoop on health care. Canada pays less then 1% more on taxes then the U.S. and in that 1% they pay for higher education. There people are better educated then the U.S..You can buy a private health policy if you want and that will give you access to private clinic's, very few people purchase the private health care in Canada. There is no waiting time for people with serious illness's, accidents, or diseases. If you take your kid to the emergency room with a sore throat, yes the kid is going to wait. You are not denied care! My husband has cancer and he was denied a breathing machine after a clot went to his lung from a life saving surgery to remove a large cancer tumor. Can you guess why the insurance company denied the breathing machine? It was because they said he was one point off of some breathing scale. Your care is not denied in Canada! If you become a citizen in Canada you will get a health card within 3 months. You won't ever get a medical bill or EOB. Have you ever seen any Canadian riot in the streets because they didn't like there health care? On the topic of jobs in Canada. Canada didn't do any trade with China and that is the reason why Canadians have jobs. They do have a deficit, not as big as ours, because of the deregulation of wall street which caused a ripple effect through out the world. Bad loans were sold to Canada as well as everyone else. Canada is a pristine place to live. I have dual citizenship between the U.S. and Canada with family in both area's. You won't regret going to Canada. The U.S. has already created a 2 class society with the very rich and 140 million people on food stamps. There are reason's why Meridian Mississippi has lost it's population but I doubt if any of them can guess why.

I have just come across this site as I am looking to move into your area. I currently live in Ontario, a province in Canada. It seems like the price of homes is relatively inexpensive. I am just wondering if a person such as myself would be accepted into your community. I am coming down in July for a visit and look around for a home. Have cousins that did live in Meridian years ago but left because of the racial tension's. Being of white decent I am wondering what to expect. Could someone let me know. I am in my fifties and would be looking for some type of part-time work. Do I have to worry about any type of trouble because I am a Canadian. I love baseball, football, and hockey. Like all kinds of people, and always like to try different foods. Hope to hear from someone about my concerns.
