As usual, those of us who are breadwinners have little interest in this page except for the humor of it. We never had the option to stay home and twiddle our thumbs and let our education and job skills atrophy cause we were busy supporting our families. You can advance the argument that you worked at home doing $130,000.00 worth of labor and it is almost impressive - till we remind you that you didn't do anything we didn't have to do after working a forty hour week. You will have to excuse us while we have some reservations about your expectation of entitlement to a job making it 'worthwhile' to pay your day care. You should be glad you aren't paying newborn rates. We did. You might also accept the fact that sometimes kids have to come home to an empty house or leave an empty house in the morning. Ours did. You might have to work outside your field? Oh no... You just aren't proven and haven't the seasoning to compete with those of us who have been in the work force for many years. And, after all, you are really just trying to supplement income you already have coming in. You said it yourself.
My kids are grown and productive members of society now so I get to enjoy my moneyjust in case you are wondering.

As usual, those of you who are breadwinners show your ignorance of stay at home moms. We don't stay at home because we can't do anything else. We do it because we value our children more than we value our education, our jobs, or the extra money. You paid high daycare fees for your infants because you chose to, not because you had to. It's easy to run off to work and have your ego boosted every day. It takes dedication to stay at home and nurture your children. Stay at home moms don't expect entitlement, we just want respect. I have a college degree and had a career before my children came, but I wouldn't trade a dozen degrees for the very productive and enjoyable season I've had with my kids. I was taught that when you spread yourself too thin, you can't do anything well. I chose to be with my children and I've gotten to spend precious time with them that I will never get back. I have had the challenge of raising a child with a handicap, but I wouldn't trade it for all of the paychecks in the world because I was there with him and got to experience the joys and challenges of parenting him. I can always get a job, but I can't always have my children around. My kids are now grown and productive members of society and I get to enjoy them and the relationship we have formed. Who cares about the money. And, unlike a lot of working moms, I don't have any regrets.

The author is lucky her mom can help her. In this economy many grannies have to work too. I would love to help my daughter by watching my adorable grandchildren, but my mortgage needs to be paid too.
