I recall an Investigator's Report about a woman midway into chemotherapy whose insurer suddenly slapped a 'pre-existing condition' label on her claims and stopped coverage. I'm sad to say, the same thing seems to be happening to me, where I do have a major medical condition requiring large claims and serious treatment and the insurer now is dancing up a storm, claiming prior insurance has a bad effect (there was none) and also the 'pre-existing condition' trick (already settled that with them once).

The bills I get that are not covered completely are huge things, demoralizingly huge, but the turned down after the fact claims that I have to call up on, straighten out again and again, take hours and days of my life and year out of my good mood.

I have what is known as a good quality medical insurer and a typical, decent coverage plan, but the psychological effects alone of owing many tens of thousands of dollars in uncovered portions of the bills are trumped by the Insurer making noises like none of it is covered.

I have already spoken with the insurer several times, trying to straighten this out, each time they say it's fine now and each time another doctor's office contacts me saying the claim has been turned down again.

This is the sort of behavior that makes me want to hire a lawyer. I lose sleep, work time, and god knows potentially how much money and creditworthiness over the insurers willingness to play games it has lost again and again.

I can't say I like it and it certainly does not help recovery from my disease any easier in the least.

Respectfully:

James M. Houwen Maple Shade NJ.
