I was studying at the office for this online project management course when I heard the shots ring out. They sounded like they could be firecrackers but the intervals between shots dismissed that idea. It hard to be an automatic, a .22 or .25 caliber, because I heard nine (9) shots in succession. Some people thought it was funny or amusing the digust, concern, and invocation, of the lord through a crucifix in my expression in reaction to seeing the man lying on the ground with paramedics observing his condition. When I first heard the shots, the band was still playing and people were festive until the whole clip was empty. Then, there was an omenous 15-30 second moment of silence. Then people once again seem to pick up with the festivities where they left off.

When I first went downstairs and outside to confirm what I heard, I asked a woman whether someone had been shot. She said yes and I saw it. I said oh my god, and we both made a crucifix. People were coming by just to see what happened. The area at Main and K was cordoned off for at least an hour. A hispanic teenager appeared to be getting questioned by the Merced County Sheriffs Department. Apparently, there were only two MPD, Merced Police Department, members working this pretty well attended, crowded, event, on bikes to boot.

Again, when I first came outside after the shots, I smelled the gun powder, and the building I work in is two doors east of K on main. The victim was lying all the way the SW corner of Main, off K, lying in front of the Mexican restaurant. On Main, traffic travels eastbound past where the victim was lying. So, it becomes quite apparent that the assailant ran, probably with the gun, across Main Street going in a northeasterly direction right past the entrance to the building in which I work. At which point, he probably cut through the public parking lot where there is a municipal camera or else he kept going straight east on Main where I believe there are no cameras and/or possibly blended with the crowd.
