The military.... what checks them from running a take over the country - surely they have the power to do anytime they want.
read your constitution ,

Separation of powers is a political doctrine originating from the United States Constitution, according to which the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the United States government are kept distinct in order to prevent abuse of power. This U.S. form of separation of powers is associated with a system of checks and balances.

But who enforces that? What is to prevent from declaring "martial law"?

C'mon - I thought you would be clever than that and say something - patriotism, and the army is formed from the people who have ties to the civilians - or something more than that - that I don't know.

Tanks can overcome guns real easy - and tanks are outlawed for civilain use.

But then we realize it's raging against an earthquake or something and a waste of time except for seething rage...except when it's our favor.

I just composed a rather lengthy post , but the best example I can give is read: 7 days in May , or watch the movie , the major factor is you have to have the will of the people , and as far as I can see that will not happen ..

as far as gun control this is the umptenth thread , about it ,
half the people cry my right, the law is not about right, but to monitor that right ,called CONTROL not denial

I agree we must monitor who can bear arms

it is the same re-hash over and over , as you will see that some who start threads do , using different leaders [headlines]
but the same theme

I will look at it. If on Network and it is set to stream I will put in my que.

Any thread other posting polls assasinating people's character is good distraction in my view - and my prime purpse. AT the same time 4 or 5 different unique thread starts - none of which got a reply. So, next time, if you want repetition then you might consider giving me a little booth with some participation.

you can start as many threads as you like but gun control /drinking/smoking/pot / have been over done , period
my concern at this moment is those who claimed we went to Iraq to get the control of oil . well why am I paying nearly $4.00 per, lack of control ??? those who bash this country , why are they fleeing Lybia/Egypt/Tunisia etc etc , even Mexico if we are so bad here

I found the movie. It's on Netfix made 1964 with Burt Lancaster?

I am the unlimited streaming 1 DVD a month. So I won't be able to see it for a month.

I seem to remember watching a long time ago - probably in the 60s - haha.

I would rather watch a movie than read posts... I have short attention on any single topic and many interests. But things repeat... haha
