UCLA dropout could face charges for faked kidnap

A Glendale woman who authorities say ran away to avoid telling her family she dropped out of college may be charged with lying to police about being kidnapped.

She should face charges of filing false police reports, along with having to pay restitution for the cost of trying to locate her. Doesn't she realize that she may have kept others from getting the law enforcement help they needed? There has been WAY too much of this over the past few years and they don't even get a slap on the wrist. too bad this is not a felony charge.

I wonder if they would be SO forgiving if an innocent man had been arrested for her rape?
After a few million dollars in a false arrest settlement, not from her, but the city,oops another deficit increase in the budget, this will just make the next kidnap/rape allocation less believable
or less likely for the authorities to pursue.

This Richardson stuff is getting old. While I feel for the parents and their missing child, it's a bit much to blame the authorities for her disappearance. Society cannot babysit everyone and keep them from harming themselves. Massive sums of money and time have been expended in the search for her. If we held all bi-polar people in jail until somebody picked them up, there would be a million people in California jails alone.

Just make her pay (for the overtime) the deputies who worked. And she should do some PSA about missing children and tell the public that "missing child" is not a joke.

There are many parents who still wonder about the fate or well being of their own child. I hope all the parents have a happy ending, like the girl they found in S.F. after many years.
