It's slime-ball women like this one that make it so difficult to believe women who DO have a legitimate claim regarding Sexual Assault.

It's so easy for society to believe a woman's claim of this nature when she paints herself into a corner and can't own up to her mistakes.'I've been kidnapped and assaulted' is usually such a believable defense in society today that the focus is on apprehending the culprit.

What if she'd have put together a 'description' and somebody was arrested and charged with the crime against this person? What if a DNA test was inconclusive? An innocent person would be sentanced for a crime that was never committed; let alone committed by him.

Somebody needs to teach women NOT to make a claim like this! This woman should be made an example of. How long would her 'assailant' have spent in jail? Because she made this false claim; she should spend that same amount of time in jail herself - thus establishing a precedent for those who come after - that making false accusations like this will be severely punished. Perhaps this would be a start as a deterrent?

There've been too many false claims in the news over the past few years. ONE false claim is one too many.

Punish her.

Why is thisw such a big deal? A white woman goes missing and everyone freaks out especially the media! If she was Hispanic no one would have cared and it would not have been news! Just another case of "missing white woman syndrome"

Well, Andre, she IS Hiss Panic and it WAS news.

It's a big deal because of the law enforcement resources wasted on this worthless crunt who didn't even have the guts to tell her family about dropping out of school.

No tears shed here.

Good. There is no way she should have gotten off with nothing. That woman put her family through hell, cost the taxpayers about $10,000 searching for her and I don't know how many man-hours were spent by both law enforcement and volunteers to try to find her. All because she didn't want to own up to her family that she wasn't going to graduate from college when she said she would.

Because of this stunt she pulled, there is less money to finance the next search and fewer people will volunteer their time after being burned by her. Only the next time, it will probably be the real thing where a missing woman has only hours to live, and only a massive and immediate search can get to her in time. Not to mention a false accusation of sexual assault is why many women never report being raped because they think they won't be believed. It took years of struggle for women to be believed when they claim they were raped with little proof, and every time there is a proven false accusation like hers, it sets things back two steps.

If for no other reason, the law should come down on her hard to discourage the next fool from doing the same thing.

This selfish and spoiled primadonna cried wolf and should be incarcerated and fined for this hoax that wasted the time and energy of the affected law enforcement agencies.
This type of unacceptable behavior should be punished to the full extent of the law.
I agree with Eric.

Good! She probably doesn't need to go to jail, but she should pay ALL the fees associated with the cost spent during the search. People need to be held accountable for their actions! This girl had a full ride at UCLA and she blew it. Shame on her.

What kind of sentence and restitution did that "runaway bride" in Georgia have to deal with a few years ago?

"On June 2, 2005, Jennifer Carol Wilbanks pleaded no contest to this charge. As part of her plea bargain, she was sentenced to two years of probation and 120 hours of community service, and she was also ordered to pay $2,250 in restitution to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department." ---- Google
