I was living in Waukesha at the time and I remember when your sister was murdered. I also was a good friend/roommate/coworker with Cheryl (Sherrie) Packard and Sharon (Corky) Malone. I just can't believe that their murderer was let off with only kidnapping and gasline crimping! I was also stalked by a man in a small maroon Buick at about the same time. He wore a baseball cap and followed me around Waukesha not letting me get back to my house to put my car in the garage until I headed to the Police station, then he disappeared, until I got into the house. He came back and came right into the porch. I turned him in to the police. I moved from there shortly after that and was unable to keep up with the case.

Does anyone know the name of the suspect who killed Cheryl Packard and Sharon Malone? I remember that his first name was Robert or Bob.

I am very sorry for your anquish and loss. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Cheryl,
It is nice to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. We are sorry for your loss of Cheryl Packard and Sharon Malone. We met their families and kept in touch with them for awhile after their murders. The suspect was Robert Kramer. It is sad that they could not put closure on their case either. Thank goodness you were aware of being followed that day and went to the police station. I have to remind so many women that I know to be aware of their surroundings. If you would like to contact me or my sister further you can e-mail us at allfordiane@hotmail.com It is set up just for the two of us.

Boy it is nice to read things from you. I too miss Diane. We were all at our house shooting pool on Judy's birthday the night before Diane died.
Remember our home phone was even tapped and I had a private officer following me to and from work for months.(Sorry to hear of the passing of Dennis).
I was going for physical therapy when I (thought) I saw him leaving the same area (I won't say more because these things are too private) but did he lose a leg? I saw a guy, looked just like him. It made me sad. Carol

I stumbled onto to Diane's murder while researching another item. Very sad and frustrating to read, this family needs closure.

I forwarded the story to a contact I have at a local TV station, hopefully it appears they may look into it.

The Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel archives are online. Here is the link regarding Diane's funeral.

With alot of prayer and support of anyone and everyone, maybe someday we will be able to put this to rest. I believe her spirit is with us on a daily basis and we need to keep her memory alive til this crime is solved. If anyone would like to speak to either Debi or I, regarding anything that would help us in any way, to find out who took this beautiful sister of ours away from us and caused such termoil in our lives, please leave your e-mail address and we will get back to you.

Please help us pray for this to be solved, so we can all rest.. Thank you all so much for caring and God be with you. We would like to hear from the person who worked at Dutchland Dairy. I believe it was Diane Greene.. if you would be willing to speak with us, this would be greatly

I was friends with Sheryl Thompson, and went to school with Julia Beckwith's sisters. I just rmember the terrible fear in our neighborhood after Sheryl and Julia were murdered, and the fear my mother had for all four of us kids. Our neighborhood was never the same after that. When Diane was killed,I remember she was engaged to a boy in Vietman (if I am not mistaken) and I believe he was killed in Vietnam not long after. I know I always believed Michael Herrington killed Diane too, but they never proved it.I knew Sheryl really well, and I never got over how she died...and the worst of it being her little brother found her. Why all these beautiful young woman had to die in this manner, I will never understand. I always felt to badly for the families of all these girls. How do you live with it? It must be the hardest thing in the world. My thoughts are still with the families, and believe me, many of us still care about you and think of you! Shelley Lussmyer

Robert Kramer served time for attempted murder but never murder. I believe he was caught crimping gaslines at neighborhood stores and then kidnapping his victims. There was a lot of speculation that he did murder Packard and Malone but they could not prove it. He cleared questioning of Diane's murder. He died in prison several years ago.

Thank you Shelley for keeping us in your thoughts. Herrington was questioned for Diane's murder but had a clear alibi. He was not the one. I was the same age as Julia Beckwith at the time of my sister's murder. In fact it really haunted me. Then a few months later my own sister was brutally murdered. I wish now that our family would have hired a private investigator to help us. I guess it's not too late and if anyone out there knows someone who is a private investigator and willing to help us Pro Bono please contact us at allfordiane@hotmail.com Thank you again Shelley.

Well, a few years back I purchased a condo that had been converted from an apartment building in Waukesha and I saved a link from the Milwaukee Sentenal that talked about it's "grand opening" back in 1967. I just noticed on the front page of the paper that my condo building was reported hsa teh front page article about Herringtons arrest and it mentions him to be linked to the MF murder. Just thought I'd add it to the thread.

P.S. Click on the link and then there should be a link at the top labeled "The Milwaukee Sentinel - Jan 21, 1967". Click on that and it will bring you to the first page - article is on the left.

Oops..sorry for where ever those typos above came from! Anyway if this link has been posted - forgive me..I couldn't go through all comments on the thread to find out. I went to school in MF with Dianes niece Tracy. I'm not sure what this guy's alibi was, but it seems too likely that he was the one who did it - just wish he would've admitted it and put the family at peace.

Thanks Tonya. I didn't realize that Herrington's wife gave birth to a little girl just a few days before he was arrested. How sad is that? Unfortunately, Herrington had a very strong alibi that proved he was not involved with Diane's murder. Thanks for sending the article... I found it very interest.

My Aunt clarine just passed away last night, Sat. July 16th. Her son was engaged to Diane. He (Donny) was killed in Viet Nam shortly
after Diane was killed. Their two deaths were the biggest heart ache of her life, and I don't think she ever got over it. Especially such a sweet person, dying in such a brutal way.
Now they all will be together.

Patti, I think of Diane so often and how she always wanted a big family and how she and Don had planned to marry when he got home from the service. We met the week you moved to the Falls and became pals INSTANTLY. You mom always walked to Corny's and we would all tag along and she would get us all treats. Diane & I had so much fun growing up. Remember my cousin, Jimmy Wiegert? He still has letters she sent to him in Vietnam. He & I always talk of our double dates. He would take Diane and bring one of his friends for me. YUK!
She will always be in my heart. I miss her like it was yesterday.
Both of my parents are gone now. Dad passed in December 2010.
Love to your families..... Carol (Woebbeking) Schladweiler
