Hello, I am the granddaughter of John and Rosalie Gagliano who owned Roseanne's. The food was the best and made by scratch. When I was young and played at the restaurant which meant, making homemade pizza dough, meatballs, sauce, lasagna, manicotti, etc it was great. We also hand breaded all of the fish and shrimp for Friday nights. My kids certainly enjoy the fact that their mom still makes food the same way I was taught so many years ago. It is nice to see that my families efforts and passion for food is missed and was appreciated. Thank you
i agree the food was the best, and as a former pizza maker i have the fondest memories of the place. john, lee and sal all left their mark on me. thanks.

Anyone remember this restaurant? It was a hidden gem in the mid 1980's that a friend at the time turned me onto. It had incredible spaghetti and meatballs and excellent pizza. Anyone know why/when it closed? The building looks abandoned now.
It was excellent! We'd go on Friday night for pizza and beer, that was Pabst or Olympia beer to be exact. Good times!

Can't someone resurrect the old recipes and open another Rosanne's? It's such a shame to lose that incredible food. It doesn't having to be at the same location.

There will be many restaurants and stores closing in the days ahead as the Obama slump continues and the economy slides negatively.

Indeed. The government stimulus was to loan money to students and restaurants to make the street look vibrant. Like Rome did with bread and circuses. Same old.

Just saw in the Journal Death Notices today that Sal had passed. Like many of you, I agree that Roseann's had the best Italian food in all Milwaukee. The sauce was sweet and the fact that it was all homemade made their menu all the more special. Loved their pizza!

On a sad note I heard that Sal passed away recently. I grew up on Pierce Street across from the school so we were only a block and a half away. My parents and I spent a lot of time there. When I grew up and got into my 20's my dad and I played cribbage with Jerry who bartended and was a son-in-law to Rose and John Galiano. Lots of memories and great food there.

Roseannes was owned and operated by my cousins' John and Roseanne Gagliano, and John's brother Sal. All the food there was fantastic. After Roseanne died in the late 70's, John tried to continue running the restaurant but was unable to due to failing health. The restaurant closed in 1983 and all 3 owners have passed.
Nooo Im the great granddaughter of John and Roseanne Gagliano. I am Sals granddaughter. The restaurant didn't close because of Roseannes death because she didn't die in the 70s. She actually lived long enough too see me to the age of 5/6 and I'm 18. I really dont know much about it due to my papa losing his voice due to cancer which was in 2007/2008 i believe. But he has passed sadly😞&#128557 ; even when he was sick he would cook great food! I love and miss him so much!

My mother worked at Roseann's when I was kid. Their food was out of this world delicious, in my opinion. Probably the best Italian food I've ever had. I remember that place very fondly.
