A casino in Kenosha would bring in millions of gambling dollars from the northern suburbs of Chicago. Those folks are rich and would rather drive accross the border than into the city that is now the murder capital of the US. It's a far bigger market share than the current Milwaukee casino can attract.

Kenosha is a finer place to visit than Milwaukee, cleaner, smaller with less crime and poverty. Milwaukee is becoming an inner city joke, a third world country in it's own right with unemployed idiots living on wlefare.

The bigger picture - more money will come in to the state of Wisconsin but it will be to a different tribe.

That's the real issue.

i guessed you never lived in northern IL like i have.
They are NOT rich. They certainly will not be spending MILLIONS in Kenosha.
We probably buy more of their lottery tickets then they do ours.
The only thing they come here to buy is our gas.

Lake is the top county for median income (it's the richest in the state) and McHenry comes in at number 3. I've lived in both, 30+ years.

I stand my ground. Yes, rich people from Illinois would rather drive to WI than through the inner city slums of Chicago for gambling. Wisconsin already is known as Illinois' largest state park.

Milwaukee and the Potawatomi tribe can keep their casino for home grown Milwaukee gamblers but by far the bigger tax draw would be a Kenosha Casino that attracted money from the likes if lawyers, doctors, and busines owners with homes north of Chicago.

i'm 61 i lived my entire life there.
It ain't a rich area. People are losing their homes all over Lake/McHenry county.
Drive through Round Lake at night with the windows open and listen to the music you hear.
See any major businesses opening up there NOPE.
Seen a bunch of them close up.
Go ahead build the casino but it won't be wealthy IL customers going there. Because there ain't any.

If you lived your entire life in Northern Illinois how come your ISP is listed as Kenosha, Wisconsin? You didn't even go out of state for College?

Take a ride down Greenbay Rd to Evanston and reverse up Sheridan - it's one million dollar house after another. These are well educated people with jobs and money, not blue collar workers getting by with foodstamps and other assistance programs. These are the taxpayers, not the lazy takers on the dole. There are plenty of low end suburbs such as Highwood or your beloved Round Lake, they originally were homes for the servants. Or if you can afford the gas drive to Barrington and Woodstock. These people currently drive to Potawatomi, Des Plaines, Joliet, and Indiana Casinos but given the opportunity Kenosha is closer, cleaner, and safer with more to offer.

It's just about money. A casino in Kenosha has a chance to bring in far more than Potawatomi in Milwaukee. I'm not saying it will bring good jobs, it will bring more tax revenue. The jobs will transfer from the poor county of Milwaukee to the richer county of Kenosha.

Walker made an interesting call, to let the tribes fight it out themselves. A new venue for the term Indian Wars.

is there some sort of local vs out of area college requirements i'm unaware of ?
if you are this stupid then you will never get it that a casino in Kenosha will fail if its main source of customers is the so called rich people of northern IL

I don't recommend casinos anywhere. Gambling is the work of the devil.

E V I L.

They need to shut them down instead of opening more. They're full of smelly old people using taxpayer money or moms and dads spending diaper money.(It's not milk money anymore because that's a gift from the state for deadbeat lowlifes who keep contaminating the gene pool).

Rich people don't gamble as much as poor folks and I hear they don't poop either.

Exactly. The dog track worked out excellent, didn't it? <heavy sarcasm>
and, Potawatomie $$$$ flooding into GOP coffers to stop another tribe from opening a casino near the border, because they're afraid of competition. Potawatomie will stop it one way or another,$$$$ always seemed to work well in Wisconsin at stopping things, ask the Koch Bros. and guvna Walker.
Since July 2011 the Potawatomi have also contributed $150,900 to the Republican Governors Association, including a $50,000 gift in February.
Since they're in a giving mood, I'll call them up and tell them I'll lobby Kenosha residents and ask for a measly few thousand. I could use some cash too.
Chicago politics have arrived in sleepy Wisconsin.

These people you're talkin' about are the people who own rental properties in Kenosha, which are AKA slumlords, I know, my landlord who doesn't fix shit relocated from Winnetka last year to Kenosha, I guess the rich dumb shit figured out he could save more money by purchasing a condo here and renting his Winnetka property out, smart guy huh?

I agree. What's the difference between a casino and Jesse James, the western hero outlaw? one exception, casino's usually rob the poor, not the wealthy and affluent. The wealthy and affluent wage their bets on Wall Street and smart investments, they're not looking to win a jackpot in a dive.
