Having insurance is being a responsible person. When you hurt or maim people because you are an idiot and chose to drive without insurance, you need to pay the taxpayers for the care of that person. I've had enough of the freeloaders. How many of you without insurance have the best cellphone and clothes. Most of you.

Also, illegal aliens are causing many accidents and running away because they have no insurance and licenses. This is a huge problem and Wisconsin has to do something about it. I hope Scott Walker addresses this issue. Enforce federal immigration laws and allow legal immigrants like myself to enter the country only!!

Mine went from 70. $ a month to 175 becaue my mom bought a new car now I'm buying a new car it's going up to 255 a month that's a hundred less than my car payment. Too much money for the kids under 25 like me. It is ridiculous. I'm on my parents but I've been quoted to be on my own and it's 455 $ a month. No tickets no accidents reported. I don't get it but I feel like I'm being raped sideways without Vaseline. Somethings gotta give I thought the whole idea of mandatory insurance was to help cut costs but it seems like since the law passed all thats changed is they found new ways to screw us.

I remember my younger days of high insurance premiums. I Feel your pain. When my insurance payment starting costing more than my car payment I sold my car and bought a bicycle, but I was in college and could make that work for me. Your situation may be different, and I can appreciate that.

These days I'm obviously older, and as much as I would like a nice car, I own/drive 2 beaters (1 small wagon & 1 SUV 4x4)and pay $36/month insurance for each car. They don't look great, but cost me a total of $70/month.

May I suggest you pay cash for a cheapie car/SUV (or score a free hand-me-down from a family member), drive it for a few years (no car payment!) and save your $$$ until you qualify for cheaper insurance.

Its simple, pay for Insurance or don't drive.
Its now the law (about time)so you have 2 choices.
1.) get insurance and drive carefully
2.) no insurance, get caught and pay the penalty.

I/we don't care about all your excuses for not being able to afford it. The people of Wisconsin are finally going to be protected from idiots who drive without insurance and cost us all tons of $$$$.
Driving is not a right, it comes with responsibilities and one of them is to have insurance.

Have you ever heard of a thing called uninsured motorist coverage? Pretty much standard on WI policies before this law. The people who didn't have it aren't going to get it and the people who do have it have had their rates hiked considerably. So, if you get in an accident with someone who can't afford their insurance because (as many people have noted) it's went up considerably because of this law, have fun! You are afforded no additional "protection"...the state has just identified another source of revenue in ticketing those who drive without insurance. This is not for consumers, it's for our broke ass government.

If insurance was more affordable for people, maybe they would get it. But, since the economy is the way it is, how can people afford those outrageous prices they have. Especially, if you are the working poor. How dare anyone try to make someone choose shelter over car insurance; food over car insurance, utility over car insurance, taking car of your family over car insurance. These things are some things are more important than some dare car insurance.
