This is the same thing thats happening to me, so I called my State Senator.
Dont bother calling Feingold! ive e-mailed him and called, all i get back is an e-mail asking for contribution to his campaign account. These Senators are so out of touch.I e-mailed a candidate running against Feingold and he called me and talked to me for 45 minutes on the phone about current issues in the state and washington. I applied for unemployment on January 1, 2010 due to a lay off. I was sent some paperwork that was mailed out on January 4th that I completed and returned to them by the deadline on January 11th. I received confirmation of my benefits being sent via direct deposit on January 15 and I will say that I experienced not being able to get through on several occasions, but I feel the time was sufficient considering the amount of people right now receiving this service. I don't want to minimize those who are frustrated and right now we are going through cutbacks and that is why we are in this situation, but considering there are more people in need of service then those who are providing the service must also be considered and also with the state forcing state employees to down size but use the ones still working to do double the work one must try and be patient. I can contest to the need to pay my bills and "we" all know the bill collectors don't wait and this entire sitiations is stressful, but hopefully it will be over soon.
Good luck.

The State Of Wisconsin - Our civil servant infrastructure has failure written all over it.

There are the same public employees who failed to process over 10,000 DNA samples for the state/national database, the same employees who paid out millions of dollars to criminals running child day care centers, the staff that has allowed unfit parents to raise children whom are killed because of their negligence.....Your state tax dollars at work.

Oh yeah, maybe you can also blame yourself for electing do-nothing state legislators who allow this stuff to continue.

My wife has had this same problem. Work search box didn't pop up on Jan 4th. Haven't seen a check since. Have tried calling now, for 2 WEEKS, with only busy signals and claims of too many calls on hold. Getting a little scared now. No money, running out of food, and bills piling up. Something's gotta give. I think we all need to follow Jeff in Elkhorn's idea, and call our state senator. I have been searching for a complaint system, but so far unable to find anything. Go to http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/w3asp/waml/wam...
and enter your address to find your local legislator. I suggest calling both the senator and assembly representative. Wouldn't hurt.

For any of you that might be Prior service vets in dire straights regarding food because of lack of compensation. I got a vulture from my VA rep at the county to get food one time back a few month ago. Money was depleted and I still didn't have unemployment befits at the time. It was a little something, but It got me by.
Took well over an hour this morning, but I did finally get threw. Turns out because I claimed holiday pay months ago and I reached the end of the first term of compensation I only received the balance that was left. Now I'm going on the first extension this next week. I'll receive the normal check. I understand, but man you count on it trying to manage some sort of life and being shorted over 200 without notification really put me in a bind. Apparently they can't send the difference off of the next extension. Doesn't make any sense to me as to why they couldn't, but that is what she told me. When you go to the web site and it says the total you still have coming and you don't get any notification prior to a shortage your mind races. Then not being able to reach anyone right away it makes a person highly agitated. The system needs work.

At least you're not waiting for your money because while waiting for the extension you worked a part time job and made $300, so now they are trying to start a new year. I still have several weeks of the extension left and now I get to wait again. I am so sick of unemployment. You can't get through to find out if they got the information that had to be mailed back, I have tried atleast 50 times each and every day this week. At least I have unlimited local and long distance. Tax season started today and that will help many of us who are unemployed. The State Department of Revenue says you can get your money in a week if you file on their site. I have done this for the past 4 years and always gotten my money in less than a week. At least one part of the Wisconsin government has it's act together.

add to this the fact that there are entire weekdays no one in the u.i. division is working because they are all placed on furlough at the same time. the purpose of furloughing state workers was to address the state budget deficit. but all u.i. workers are paid with FEDERAL money. they are included out of some misbegotten notion of "fairness." it's not very fair to claimants.

I really wish someone could put some pressure on these people in the UI Division.Just dont know where to turn, ive been w/o money for 2 1/2 months. Hard to eat and survive w 5 year old. This almost is criminal since the extension was Nov 6th and UI cant even do there claims by hand like Massechusetts did to take care of their people who live there. WHEN YOU GET THROUGH, WHY CANT THEY UPDATE ACCOUNT AND ISSUE PAYMENT INSTEAD OF TELLING YOU ITS GONNA BE A FEW WEEKS!

Here's the update. Read my previous post, then read this one. I called Senator Dale Schultz's office, and talked to Tom Jackson. I explained that we CANNOT get through to unemployment. Mr. Jackson said to send him a detailed email addressing the situation. I did, and less than 24 hours later (yes, on a Saturday, during OFF hours for unemployment) got a call from Hal Burgan, who is the administrator of WI Unemployment; I was not home and got the message with his cell phone number to call him back. We did and he said there was a mechanical problem with the website and our payments would be sent Monday (possibly Tuesday due to Monday's holiday). This is the email I received from them to Hal Burgan:

"Senator Schultz was contacted today by Angela Rohn after two weeks of persistent efforts to call the UC Benefits phone line have not succeeded.

On January 2, when Rohn filed her unemployment benefit application online, there was no form for her Work Search. Rohn both mailed and faxed in her work search. UC Division mailed Rohn a letter stating her UC benefit payment was being held due to a question in the application and to contact a claim specialist to discuss it.

Rohn has made repeated call attempts over the past two weeks throughout the days, and has been unable to get through. On most calls there is a busy signal, on some calls a recording stating due to too many people on hold for the system, goodbye and a disconnection.

Senator Schultz asks that you please have a claim specialist call Rohn to address whatever issue is resulting in her benefits being withheld. Alternatively, please have an email go to Rohn at [email protected] explaining how she can resolve the matter online or via email."

My advice is to send Tom Jackson an email ([email protected]). All of you complaining about the government not caring can rethink their statements. Senator Dale Schultz took care of this in less than 24 hours. Keep in mind this was on a SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!

It is obvious that the only thing that these people care about is how much more money they can wring out of us not what they can do for us.

i 100% agree this unemployment is the most worthless agency in the state of wisconsin and i thought the irs was bad i to have been waiting almost 3 months for a check and the only thing i get when i do get a hold of somebody is that it will be another week another 2 weeks what these people don't know is what it would it feel like if they didn't get a check for 3 months

Last week I have been filing my unemployment and now on extension, last week there was a glitch in there system saying that your benefit year is up and it takes 21 days, I have already receive the letters and been on the extension for 2 months but agency keeps telling me to check back, this is the third time and I had told the agency that my mortgage and bills can not wait, even cable is threatening to cut my service off, I wish these people where in my shoes, I did not ask to be laid off, it has been 15 months, I have a family to support, do they have a family, house??
