Me too. What in God's name was the child doing sitting on the side of the trailer like that?
The parent or whoever was in charge of him should be horsewhipped for endangering him!

Farm injuries and deaths are pretty common & kids are often the victims. It's hard work out there - be careful.

God was with this young boy, and I know he saved is life and blessed his family with a lesson they will not soon forget. Children are a gift, and accidents do happen, but we need to be sure we are watching our children carfully. The farm can be a dangerous place for children and adults. I am glad this story had a happy ending! Bless you little one!

I agree with you. It is hard work out there and often there are accidents. For those that want to horsewhip the parents..calm down. People that live in the country and tend to the farm are a different bred of people. This child will never forget this incident and so will his parents.

Amen to that! I grew up on a farm and it is a different life. Everyone helps-including the kids. I don't blame the parents. It was just an accident. Plus, I remember always wanting to watch things even if I couldn't help b/c I was too little. The kid was probably just trying to be "in" on everything going on. He is blessed that everything turned out fine. God was watching over him!

I grew up on a farm/ranch. My family still operates a very large ranch. NO ONE who works on my family's place would ever allow a child to sit on the side of a very dangerous piece of equipment while it is in operation. So please spare me the "People that live in the country and tend to the farm are a different bred of people" CRAP!

Sounds like Big Steve was sheltered too much as a kid. That or just lazy and didn't want to help out on the farm. Kids do help on the farms and are around dangerous equipment just like the adults. Accidents happen and this child is lucky not to be harmed.

I agree with you there was no excuse for that child to be sitting on the side of the trailer while it was in operation. The different breed of people theory is a load of BULL

Haven't you ever seen 6 year old Amish kids driving tractors on the road? I have! Farming is a different life and there are different expectations! You pull your own weight! Everyone helps! Don't be so judgmental about the parents!

Ummmm ok. If you call getting up at 4 AM to help with the cattle and everything before school, then helping after school until dark or later being "lazy" then I guess I was.
