Since the establishment of the MSJC Police Department over three years ago, crime has greatly decreased on the east side of Menifee. They do a good job over here and why not just ask for police services from them. Would'nt it be cheaper and more cost effective. Most cities contract with the Sheriff and even Wildomar tried contracting with Murrieta Police Department. The Sheriff would cost us over 3 million dollars for probably the same service we are getting now. MSJC Police Department is a smaller agency but just what this small town needs in the beginning phases of cityhood. A simple contract with them would cost way less than a bigger agency. I'm guessing they could do a fine job with just 1 million or 1.5 million. Just a thought, since they are the first we see around here all the time and the first we can ever get in contact with when there is crime happening in the area. Who's with me on this, can I at least get a second vote? Let's do what's right for our future city. I live in the lakes and would rather have them here than the lazy security company that we have working here. The Sheriff is too spread thin with man power. The MSJC Police is a small department but we could add to thier force with little to no cost. This would be a great partnership between the collge and the community.

Donald has a wonderful point; I think that the College Police presence has been a good thing for the community and the College.

"I agree, they are small yet effective." "I hope that the cityhood gets it together and finds a way to spend public safety funds appropriatley and in the best intrest of the city and its community." "I agree we should contract with a smaller agency but it really does not matter who, as long as it's not a big agency where everything regrding services like: CSI, Helicopter, Boats, Bicycles, etc. is not a charge back when we need it." "Let's play this smart, I feel the jr. colleg PD is a start and mabey we could arrange soemthing in the meantime." "I know nothing about them other than I've heard they are active in the area." Ler's do something and stop doing nothing!"

I'm not so sure that this is such a great thing. I'd like to see more about it in the local paper and maybe some news spots. I don't think a lot of the residents read this blog and are missing your great advertising. What would the drawbacks be to this? Who's funding it, the tax payers?

It seems to me that you guys/gals are really "gelling" out there with your forum on The MSJC Police Department. It's great to see such a good spirited dialogue. Sounds to me like that MSJC Police Dept. is doing a good job and deserves some community support.

Wow! Are we that desperate? The Jr. College Police are great but really why would we need them? They are way too small to cover the entire city of Menifee. But then again what are we getting now...like one, mabey two Sheriff Cars. I'm sure we can do better than that. Leave the Jr. College Police out of it,they have enough to deal with I'm sure.

Or at least have them included in police services for the area along with the Sheriff. These two agencies have worked well together in past news clips and stories published by the Press Enterprise. This might be a better solution to get Menifee some better, faster and quality public safety services in the meantime.

I disagree... I feel we should look into some other option. I think they are doing fine where they are at.

Well how about in the meantime the Mt San Jacinto Police and Sheriff work together as a joint power of authority or something. I'm sure some sort of agreement between the two agencies can be made reagrding top priority calls such as robberies, burglaries and other crimes in progress. This would sure allow more cops in the area and quicker response times.

Sure, why not! This would be a valuable tool at our fingertips that we are not using as a county resource. Sheriff Doyle would probabaly benifit with this operation for his re-election.
