Menifee Pop Warner Scam

Pop Warner is just as bad on the West Coast if not worse. Who ever posted that the National Pop Warner is doing nothing hit the nail on the head. When ever you go on line to look up Pop Warner you will see that the leaders are steal, lie, cheat and always at the expense of the kids. There needs to be regulation is this is from a former President that walked away! Of course there are always those great volunteers that work very hard they are the minority.
So not worth it

This was my first year of Pop Warner in Menfiee, and I wish I would have went with JAAF. I have the same experience with a few kids always being the ones to sit on the side while a few hand picked kids are given that extra attention. I have my child involved in sports for over 5 years and this is the first time I just gave up and said it's not worth it. The money is one thing, but the coach with their kids on the team is not good, only their kids get that really training. Thanks for nothing pop warner, now my kid hates football!!!!!!

Its so funny to sit back and watch you all complain. I hear it day in and day out on the sidelines while at practice. Guess what its not the coaches fault your child has no desire to actually play football. There are kids that are on the field but they still don't know what they are doing there. And of course thats the coaches fault right. No matter how hard you try to coach a kid, that can not walk and chew gum at the same time, they just don't get it. Maybe your kid should join something like the Science club, or table tennis. Maybe a full contact sport is not little Johnny's interest. How about you ask them if they want to play and how about you as a parent take a little time to explain to them that it is not as easy as professional players make it look. How about you take your kid to the park and play a little football with them.
Oh yeah and to those of you that think your kid is the best on the team no matter how bad they really are. This Pop Warner stuff is for your child to learn the sport, this is not going to hold them back from going to UCLA when they turn 19.
The resolution is not to just run from the league, it is to step up bring your ideas and sign up to volunteer. I did and now I have a totally different outlook. Plus Junior All American is not all that its cracked up to be. They have the same issues as Pop Warner.

New football league coming to Menifee! Don't run to JAAF. They have issues also. New League, New Members, New beginning! If we as a community work on being part of something great, it will be great! It will take hard work, mature people, reasonable and flexible individuals, all working to enhance our childrens lives in a positive and dynamic way! I am so excited for something new. Keep an eye out next season for a shake up of what community and team work can do!

First of all, MPW is like many other organizations out there. They try and appease everyone, but sometimes you do get parents that are making it about themselves and not about their 11 year old that wants to have fun. Lets all remember that every league has it problems, and if you want to help, volunteer and help out. As for LOL, its good that your son is able to play with a great team, But remember its not all about winning! Some of you parents are forgetting that these are kids, not adults and they need your support, not your negativity. Like I said, get out there and volunteer and see how hard it actually is. And if you don't win a presidential race, get over it and stop complaining about an organization you are no longer a part of.

Funny reading this blog. I wanted to know the same info and did join the board. The expenses are huge to play popwarner. Go to a board meeting and you will see. They have to pay for referees for each game. 5 each Refs for six games on one day, are not free and they do not volunteer. In florida we have to pay for every hour we are on the practice field that alone is about three thousand dollars. Helmets have to be ship and recertified. Decals have to replace, Equipment has to be stored at a climate controlled storage facility. Signs made for recruitment of players were several hundred dollars. The list goes on and on. It cost me about 230.00 dollars for my child to play last year. I figured we spent about 200 hours. A little more than a dollar an hour. To me thats not bad to keep my son active. But I can speak for other associations.

We all have our opinion of Menifee Pop Warner but here is a fact! Ask to see their tax filing before signing your kid up!

Fact: They have lost their rights and privileges to transact business because they are suspended from doing business and have been since 2007. They are aware and are still trying to take money from uninformed parents to run their program without following state requirements. They are doing what they want as long as we all fall prey. No wonder they are called Predators!

I was involved with them for years and itís the same as it always will be. It starts with the leaders that can not be voted off they make sure of this. Next they do have an LLC now that people are asking they can use that to hide money. Also you should know they owe money to many different vendors, like Ridell. I do not mind paying extra for my kid to have better training and win games but they cant win for there lives. We joined JAAF this year and we are 3-0 and we are so happy oh and less then half the price.
It turns out that Menifee Pop Warner is going into the 2011 season without voting on new board members. There was no vote last season since they were suppose to convert to AYF and since they don't seem to honor votes or bylaws, they are continuing with MPW. PARTICIPANTS BEWARE!!! Do not sign your kid up with an organization that shouldn't be doing business. They need to fix their tax problems before they continue to take registration money from all of us!!!

WOW! Anyone want to bet that those were AYF board members and spouses that were busy posting on the board on Jan 10 and Jan 11?

Did it occur to any of you that the folks that are running AYF might be the same people that ran MPW in to the ground... leaving it in shambles for others to clean up? The AYF people didn't come out from under a rock to start this league in Menifee. They came from Menifee Pop Warner!

The truth is, the people currently running AYF aren't the original individuals who stepped up to take on the conversion from Pop Warner to AYF. Pop Warner was going to switch... the 2010 board members agreed on that much. But of course, there was a coup when things didn't go the way a couple of individuals had hoped. They forced the original President out. In steps a guy that has absolutely no business leading a youth sports organization, I can say that because of personal football experience with this individual. The wiser folks originally with MPW distanced themselves from the AYF people (who eventually resigned as MPW board members and whose positions had to be filled... the poster above fails to acknowledge this) and went back to what they were doing, running a football league.

For those of you that believe "NEW" = "IMPROVED", it's not... same people that were running the show at MPW are now at AYF. Here's what you need to consider before you decide if you should play for either league:

Who has rights to fields, can either league afford them? AYF is using the Patriots logo (which is reason enough for me not to sign up!) trying to court Heritage High, but MPW played there last year and has an existing relationship. Also, Heritage is very PROUD of their fields... meaning they charge an arm and a leg for their use! JAAF is tied in at Paloma. I don't think there is another set of goal posts in Menifee available for a third football league.

Who has equipment? AYF was initially counting on having MPW's equipment, but that's not going to happen now that AYF is a "start-up" and not forming from an existing league. Does AYF have the capital or credit to purchase equipment? Will equipment be new, or used, or do you supply your own equipment?

What happens to your registration fee if either league doesn't get the minimum kids to fill a team at the age group you sign up for?

Forgot to ask that you consider this:

What football conference does each league play in? MPW is part of the established Palomar Conference. AYF is part of the new Riverside County Youth Football & Cheer Conference. There's not much information, if any, available about the conference AYF belongs to. Who do you play if there are no other leagues to play against?

A cease and desist was sent to one Linda Contreras regarding the non-profit tax filings for Menifee Pop Warner. You can not shield your self with an LLC from the IRS or the state tax board and or the DoCA. So, if they are the same people that ran that organization into the ground then why is the president still the same person that was sent the documentation in 2007? It sounds like to me that maybe the people that where sick of what was going on there took off. Also I am not part of this and glad I am not, but donít deceive people. The truth is that they should not be conducting business and will be looked into. If they are in violation of non-profit laws, then the appropriate action will be taken.

IT SHOULD MOST DEFINITELY OCCUR TO EVERYONE that the same people who have been on the Menifee Pop Warner board since BEFORE 2010 are going to be on the board for the 2011 season and were part of the board that ran the league into the ground. Also "consider this" that the board members who were part of the board last season (2010) who tried to help clean up the league were not only misinformed but misguided by the supposed goals of the organization and therefore decided they do not want to be associated with such an organization and moved on to create a new league in based but not restricted to just Menifee. Let's talk conference. Palomar Conference is supporting a league like MPW who are breaking laws by doing business while suspended in the state of California, what does that say about the Palomar conference? SHAME ON YOU MENIFEE POP WARNER AND PALOMAR CONFERENCE!

Did anyone ever stop and think what is the REAL reason people volunteer and devote their time to football leagues in general? Instead of talking about how people aren't qualified to run a league, maybe YOU should volunteer. You say you know first hand that the president is not capable, did you ever volunteer for any position? If you did volunteer, did you finish the season?? It's supposed to be about the youth of our community, teaching team spirit, and keeping children active, off the streets, and out of trouble. You seem to know so much about MPW and AYF in Menifee, are you involved with any of them? Or is this knowledge second hand from gossip created by people with insecurities of not being in control. Instead of pointing fingers and gossiping on many blogs, grow up and stop acting like a child and get out there and volunteer. Being part of any board is hard work and takes constant dedication. You have to sacrifice time away from your family and have to miss out on many games of your own children. So before you judge anyone without having all of the facts, don't attack people that are hard working, dedicated, and in it for all the right reasons.

The people who ran MPW into the ground are still there for the most part and they are mad because the people who started AYF didnt want them to be a part of this new league
