it is ridiculous to suggest that someone who pays income tax to the state and property taxes (and is likely paying at the top end of both scales) is not "sharing the sacrifices" just because they choose to send their children to private school. Another (and better) way to look at this is that they are sacrificing more of their wallet for quality teachers and education-paying for educational services they don't benefit from (but others do) AND paying for private school teachers and administrators.
