Thank GOD the State of Mississippi realizes that you can't stop a vehicle with a helicopter, even if Larry doesn't. It is no wonder the bad guys in Memphis continue to grow in number. Perhaps word has gotten out over the southeast and that's the reason this particular dirtbag decided to come here. Just another example of one of many things WRONG with Memphis.

If Memphis PD won't chase someone wanted on murder charges, then what will they chase someone for. I guess you can come to Memphis and "GET AWAY WITH MURDER" as long as you do it in a car.

What about when Jeff Clark chased the idiot all around North Memphis a few years ago and they were jumping on hoods to apprehend them. That guy was not even a murderer. I guess some people are excluded Colonel Clark? Never saw a copter catch anyone. It always takes a human.

So how much more serious of a crime is there than beating your mother to death? Also, wasn't that a city car that blocked him in. Bet that is not policy. Glad the County guy was there to actually apprehend them. Poor city officers can't even work without being constantly scrutinized. Good job guys to all agencies and keep it up. Don't let these criminals take over our streets. Oh yeah Stephanie don't be so dramatic, you even said the chase never exceeded 50 mph. Come on, dude didn't stop, he was blocked and then bit. End of story.

I support the Memphis director's decision to defer to a helicopter. While helicopters don't catch criminals being chased, the presence of a helicopter allows for a strategic use of resources. The more cars you have traveling at high speeds on local roads, the more likely an accident involving an innocent civilian will occur.

This is obviously why the criminals flock to memphis and honest hard working people who want to live in a safe neighborhood flock to mississippi. The police in mississippi dont tend to let minor violations of the law (like murder) just slip by.

Well, Memphis is at the top of the list again for not thinking. I agree you might want to use a helicopter if it had been at night but with the police directly behind the vehicle, I don't think it was needed. Now if this man had robbed a donut shop that the Memphis PD favor, then they would have called out the dogs and every other unit have have available. I agree with the Mississippi office, murder is at the top of the list for getting a possible criminal

Just remember, it's always best to do WHATEVER it takes to protect yourself. Godwin won't do it.

The MPD seems to have good street officers. Seems the only problem is their FEARFUL leader. If he could have quit what he was doing and made the scene while the TV cameras were there when the bust went down, it would have been okay for his people to be a part of the stop. Time to change leaders.
Good coverage Stephenie.

So Godwin wants a chopper to chase a car. How is a chopper going to stop a vehicle? And is murder not a serious offense? If a guy would beat his own mother to death, he'd beat ANYONE to death.

And it's also a good thing that the chase happened when it did, because Godwin decided that the MPD helicopters aren't needed in the afternoons.

During that time the helicopters are parked at the academy until after 9:00 PM.

My applause to the police from Mississippi. Job Well Done! We need more police as dedicated as you and your department. You should get a medal for your actions because you earned it.

looks like the only dept. reviewing the chase is memphis. b/c godwin just had to expand on the reason the mpd got out of the chase, ie b/c the helicopter was involved, once again trying to show how intelligent he is, he makes himself look like a moron by saying,"is the offense that serious", what a goofball.
Hey larry please tell us what is more serious than homicide?
oh yeah, violations of the P&P, i forgot. you idiot!
