I agree, the thugs are vandalizing properties at at alarming rate and with total disregard for law enforcement.

Disregard for law enforcement is a major understatement! They have no respect for themselves let alone personal property or their environment. Dope dealers, junkies and gangbangers seem to be so entrenched that the police have got a monumental task ahead of them if they're going to hope to give the nieghborhood back to the residents. I think that operation blue crush could be very successful in reigning in and curtailing some of the lawlessness rampant in the area today.

Of course theres connects with cops and gangs..However if we paid our cops more of a salary to risk their lives they wouldnt have to take the evidence bags home every once in awhile or take a percent off of dope money before turning it in ..or take bribs.

you have some cops are invovled with the gangsta members and when something goes down everything is not being told all on tv or the news. i feel that cracking down crime is to set the street gangs members up the fbi needs to have buses ready for them to be shipped off to a no way out city.

The sad thing is that most parents are unawre that thier own child is in a gang. I am a high school teacher and I see it all the time. The gangs target "special ed" kids. They know the child can't read, or lives in the hood and they take advantage ofit. Look around, does your kid slouch his pants, do they wear red or blue. Do they only wear a certian team. If so they are in a gang. It starts at home. If you are not home for your children then the gang is there for them. There's money in it for them. There is protection in it for them. There is also death in it for them. It's very very very sad. It begins at home. sometimes teh parents are in the gang. It's a cycle. Its up to the community to stop it.

Many kids are fronting. They are not in a real gang, but they claim it. At my high school little 9th and 10th graders front about gangs. They don't know nothing. Parents wake up! It's your fault. Moms, close your legs and raise your kids right. Stop using the N word to refer to one another. The N word means, well you know. If we keep using it as slang then others will use it to refer to us. Haven't we grown out of being igornant? We need to check our self.

We all need to come together to stop the gang problem...I live off of manassas in a wonderful highrise, yet I am afraid to walk to the store. The police need to be doubled...the corruption needs to stop. Adults who go to the buy marijuana off the streets need to stop doing so, money from that contributes to murder, guns and bringing other more harmful drugs into this community.

I do agree. I often see cops hanging out with less than respectful looking characters late at night outside of convenience stores. They all seem to stand and be joking and hitting one another on the back. Makes me say Hmm.

Many of the cops come from the same neighborhoods much of the crime is going on in (the black cops that is) and many of these gangbangers are most often thier childhood friends or friend of family. They know them somehow.

Cops do not make much. I believe there is a link between some gang activity and the police. Especially here in Memphis. It would not suprise me.

APPLAUSE!!!

I agree with you. The parents should be held ACCOUNTABLE. I wish the police would start threatening them with jail time when their kids skip school, etc. I recently moved to Memphis and many of the other young blacks I meet here don't even have a highschool diploma. They are making no efforts to go to trade school or college. They are walking around simply surviving from one welfare check to the next.

Oh and the guys. They are smart. They usually find them a woman on welfare, who stays in a section 8 apartment with several kids and move in with her. This is happening a lot in Southwest and North Memphis. They are both living off of the system and see nothing wrong with it.

The mentality of many blacks in Memphis (and i am black) is downright pathetic. No wonder the whites are fleeing the city. And guess what. The educated blacks are fleeing right behind them.

Memphis needs better paying JOBS for our youth. There is also a lot of RACISM in Memphis. Go into any Temp Employment agency and mostly what you see is BLACKS and HISPANICS. Where do the whites go.

I have walked in some companies here and EVERYONE is white. I am black with a college degree. I have had two jobs in Memphis and on both of them I HAVE BEEN OVERWORKED for 12 dollars and hour and mistreated. It almost makes me envy the young blacks out there saying NOWAY to working for the white man and who are selling drugs.

However, to stay on point, if Memphis had more good paying jobs and for the young black men jobs willing to hire them with their checkered criminal past, we would all see the crime go down.
