It's a sad day for a family, when their love ones are killed by something that is avoidable. My prayers go out to them and may GOD bless her Sole. Driving around this city I have seen many people, stops on the tracks at the Red Light..(Poplar Crossing) do they know that trains doesnot have BRAKES? OR do they know that the crossing traffic is at danger also because they are careless. Some people real have a mental block. The poor lady must have mistaken the tracks for a comfortable spot because she couldn't make it home..Horrible and Terrified!

Mt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. She must have thought that she could outrun the train, and somehow, just didn't make it. So very sorry; what a terrible thing to happen to anyone. I hope that she didn't leave children behind. My sincere sympathy!!

The report I read on ABC News stated she was lying on the tracks before the train came. This story makes it appear as a suicide. Was this mis-reported?

You have a sensible and sweet side to you, I am learning... This was touching.. Nice post..

It is a tragedy. People in Memphis just don't have any patience. I have seen many a time, drivers will go around the person in front of them if they are stopping and try to beat the train. They go in between the rails that drop. Just stupid really. I don't think the white line is far enough back. Now, I have also seen drivers pulling up to the turning lane and rushing there way over, when the light changes to go straight. This too, is going to cause some problems. People just need to use common sense, and have a little more patience.
So sorry

Sadly, she was indeed lying on the tracks. She had two children. Melissa was a good woman. She had some issues. I hope she is at peace now. Condolences to her family.
